  1. Nice sharp focus on the bee; a colourful composition with the yellow flower. Hopefully we will see a lot of bees and other insects soon. Never saw a bee with so much grey hair! Posted 11 years ago
    1. Thanks, this was a first sighting of a grey-haired bee for me as well. I hope to see many bees as well this year, I keep hearing they are increasingly threatened, yet extremely important for key aspects of our ecosystems. I'll stop seeing them as an annoyance, and trying to cherish them from this year onwards :) Posted 11 years ago

The Bombus veteranus is a rare bumblebee in key countries of habitat nowadays. The workers are black in color, covered in hair ranging from white to yellow. The brisket is always black in color, the head is quite long.
