Q:
Dothey do Sunday brunch and what are the restrictions?
A:
We were just there and there was nothing special for Sunday brunch. The restaurant that was there previously, had closed and a new one is supposed to be taking its place. In the meantime, it's very basic.

We stayed here for a function my wife's employer was holding. Overall very pleasant lodgings
Our room was large and clean, and the king bed was comfortable. The bathroom likewise was quite spacious, though the shower water never got very warm--with the heat turned all the way up it was just barely warm enough. Light shining in under the door was in my eyes all night--if I'd been thinking I'd have laid a towel in front of it. But we didn't have any noisy neighbors and I did sleep, if fitfully.
The only food I tried here was at a catered banquet, and if you are planning one here, get the short ribs! Very tender and savory.
All the staff we spoke with were pleasant and professional, from the valets to the front desk staff to the banquet servers.
We don't live far away and could have easily driven home after the company function, but I'm glad we decided to bunk here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ginger M.San Francisco, CA020Dec 7, 2023
Ugly place, pretty building.
The physical building itself is very nice and that is the only good thing I can say. Everything else was horrible. The refrigerator in the room was broken and the tiles on the wall in the shower were scratched. There was robe hanging on back of the door in the bathroom with a black stain on the front of it. There were scratches in the toilet bowl. That was just inside our room on the 18th floor.
The swinging door in the front of the hotel was broken, so I was left dragging my luggage through the set of double doors. Nobody offered to help open the door, or assist with my luggage. There seemed to only be one person working the Valet, and he seemed to have no idea what his job was. He seemed irritated and rude and dismissive. I was just glad to get away from him. So, that is the first impression you might get upon checking in.
The service at the second floor lobby bar was slow and inefficient. One person was walking around very slowly and rolling her eyes, and she actually seemed incapable physically of any activity at all. I walked up to place an order with the person behind the bar instead. It is awful that anyone treats customers this way, and unacceptable to allow anyone to treat you this bad as a paying customer.
When I finally go to leave this ugly place, I encountered the same guy at Valet again. I texted to have my car brought up, but never received any message when it was ready. I just went outside and saw my car parked. I had to go up to a window and knock on the plexiglass to get the Valet's attention, then he came over and rudely slid my keys under the window. I was so happy to leave this slimy place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Desiree A.Parma, OH022Apr 9, 2024
The Westin is fine the front desk rep was really nice and pleasant, the room was very clean and nice, my problem was mainly all the noise from the elevator and the other people throwing their doors so loudly.

This was a great hotel! The location is ideal: right in downtown Detroit, within walking distance to lots of restaurants, a dog park, and other things to do and see. It's also very close to Canada -- I could see the Canada border from my hotel window!
Another plus is that this hotel has a great gym. With rare exceptions, I work out every day, even when I'm traveling, so a gym is a necessity when I'm staying in a hotel. Some hotel gyms have been better than others during my travels, but I have to say, the gym at this Westin is excellent! It has several treadmills, four ellipticals, a weight area, several types of gym machines, medicine balls, mats, weight-resistance equipment, and little bonuses like free earphones and chilled towels that you can grab from a mini refrigerator. Very nice.
This hotel also has a great pool, with a big spa (hot tub). It was very clean when we visited. There's also a shower area to rinse off.
There's a restaurant on the first floor, as well as a Starbucks and gift shop. The Starbucks is a legit, full-on Starbucks -- not a dinky Starbucks.
This hotel was in the middle of construction when I visited, so some of the areas of the hotel were inaccessible. But it was a minor inconvenience.
Now, for some things I wish the hotel would work on. The check-in reception desk is located on the second floor, which is totally unintuitive and kind of confused me when I first arrived. There is a small sign after you enter one of the entrances of the hotel telling you to take the elevator up one floor to the reception desk, but I must have missed it the first time.
Also, this Westin uses an adjacent parking structure as their parking area. So you need to walk outside and around the building, cross a small street, and enter a parking structure to get your car. Then they make you get your parking slip validated each time you want to leave. This should be an easy process, but it takes several minutes of shouting at a parking attendant in a booth inside the hotel as he asks you your name and room number, and how many nights you're staying. This happens each time you want to leave. When you're in the parking structure, it's not entirely clear where hotel guests can park. If you're unsure, then ask the person in the booth, but when we were there, hotel guests could only park on certain levels, in spots marked for the valet. We always parked in valet spots (because we were told to) and never got towed, so I guess it all worked out?
The carpet in our hotel room was very dirty and old. Everything else in the hotel room was nice and new, so it was kind of a bummer that the carpet was so wrecked.
To end on a high note: The shower was great (it has a rainfall shower head, with a detachable nozzle) and the hot water never ran out. So that was a bonus. Also, the service is top-notch. We were really treated like extra-special guests from everyone. And the room-service food we ordered was great and well-presented.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Oct 15, 2023
We came here for our Smart set con clave, and we had a fabulous time! Our room was nice and roomy, and the hotel looks fabulous. I love how they still kept a lot of the old architecture, and mixed in it with a lot of new modern designs. Really great hotel! The service was a little slow when it came to cleaning your room, but that's OK. Great location!! We enjoyed our visit, despite our room not being ready upon check in. We got there at 6:00 pm. Really?? Hence the 4 stars.

Westin certainly doesn't take care of its Loyalty Program Members. Just checked in and not impressed with Westin Book Cadillac Detroit.

Perfect hotel to stay in when you are having any kind of an activity in downtown Detroit. My son got married at Belle Isle and we had the rehearsal dinner at the Book Cadillac, and all the guests stayed there and then we also had a brunch there, the morning after the wedding. Everything went on without a hitch -the place was clean, The staff was friendly and efficient, and the food was amazing! Beautiful views out of every window. Doesn't get much better than the Book Cadillac.!!

The location of this hotel is right in the heart of the downtown area. I've never been to Detroit and didn't know what to expect. I was there for a convention. The pictures on their website looked great. There are homeless people in the area and I kept seeing and smelling the same man during my stay. He didn't bother me, but it's just good to be aware. As others posted, the front desk people are not the friendliest, neither are the wait staff in their restaurants or the people serving the food for my convention. But at least they are consistent. My room was ready when I checked in, but when I went to my room, the door was ajar. It looked clean. The beds weren't made the way I'm used to. Everything was wrinkly and the bottom bedskirts had stains on it. I've been to Westins and the beds were made to perfection. So I told myself I guess it's clean enough. The bathroom was clean and that's how I figured out it was cleaned. The hallways are kinda dark.
I'm gluten-free and paid for a couple of meals for my conference. For the last evening, I asked a worker what my gluten-free meal would be and she said to look at the signs and that's what I could have. I paid $115 for this meal ticket that included entertainment and the only things I could eat were salad and corn tortillas with carnitas. I had to ask if the meat was gluten-free because the sign didn't say so. The lady said she didn't know and I had to ask another guy who walked away by the time I tried to reach him. I told the lady he disappeared and she seemed upset at me by this point. She walked away, and when I saw her again (I was standing by the food the entire time waiting for someone to get back to me), she said oh, yeah, it's gluten-free. Good thing I ate some gluten-free pizza beforehand.
Parking is in the building next to the hotel and you have to walk to get your car and park on the 9th floor if you are self parking. It's not a fast in and out. Just FYI.
I did a presentation in the Griswold room and they didn't clean it beforehand. I noticed a whole bunch of hair on the ground in clumps and the room was really warm.
I definitely think what I expected was not what I experienced. Overall, it was an okay stay. The location was within walking distance to food and events.
I do want to say that the guy working in the little store in the hotel was amazing. My daughter asked him for a band-aid and he was more than accommodating. Seems like a little thing, but when you've experienced just meh service, then a little kindness goes a long way.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Richard T.Waterford Township, MI0112Nov 16, 2023
The staff at the front desk is very rude to the guest and a lot of construction going on around the building. Very difficult to get in and out of especially the valet. A lot of confusion don't recommend
