Shias, a term that stems from shi'atu Ali, Arabic for “partisans of Ali,” believe that Ali and his descendants are part of a divine order. Sunnis, meaning followers of the sunna, or “way” in Arabic, of Mohammed, are opposed to political succession based on Mohammed's bloodline.

Sunnis believe that the Quran is the literal word of God. They believe in electing their religious leaders; that the position is not passed down through the Prophet Muhammad's bloodline. The first Caliph or leader chosen by the Sunnis was a friend of the Prophet Muhammad named Abu Bakr as-Siddiq.

Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) was nor Sunni or Shia. He was a Messenger of Allah (S.W.T). He told us not to divide in sects because that will ruin the whole islamic belief. He has also said that on the day of judgement, their will be 73 sects and only 1 sect will enter the Jannah.

All Shia Imams were tolerant, patient, peaceful, compassion and generous. History of Islam shows their position and activities in the Islamic society. They are the most knowledgeable people of their period. They treated all members or followers of different Islamic sects equally and respect them.
