Max Kutner is a senior writer at Newsweek, where he covers politics and general interest news. He specializes in stories about the FBI, the Department of Justice and congressional intelligence committees. In cover stories, he has written about the high suicide rate for farmers, sex trafficking to farm worker labor camps, the state of policing in America and an embattled FBI director. Besides Newsweek, he has written for Newsweek Japan, Boston and Smithsonian magazines, Vassar: The Alumnae/i Quarterly and Vice.com. He is based in New York City and holds a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a B.A. from Vassar College.
