An international team of space boffins unveiled plans for 100,000 people to live in orbit above Earth in a new nation called Asgardia this week.
They claimed the gigantic spaceship and defence shield will protect us from asteroids and usher in a new era of peace.
But so-called truthers have spotted the project features a worrying array of occult symbols associated with secret societies.
Asgardia’s slick website and press handouts feature what looks like a futuristic space craft flying high above the Earth.
It looks like something out of Star Trek – and conjures up images of a society freed through technology.
However, the “spaceship” includes an unusual set of features – which look almost exactly like the “Eye of Horus”, “Eye of Ra”, “Eye of Providence” or “All Seeing Eye”.
The icon dates back to ancient Egypt and is a Freemasonry sign that famously appears on the US dollar bill.
There is no clear reason why this should appear on the supposedly peaceful spaceship.

Conspiracy theorists have pointed out the similarity between a shining symbol at the heart of the vessel and the “Tree of Life” symbol from the mystical religion Kabbalah.
Even the project’s proposed name – Asgardia – comes from mythology.
The new nation’s founders admit it is taken from the name of the realm of the gods – a city in the sky – in Norse mythology, Asgard.
Internet conspiracy theorist DAHBOO777 said: “You’ve got to see the Illuminati symbolism hiding in plain sight – right in your face.”
Project leader Dr Igor Ashurbeyli describes the mission in mystical new age terms right out of 70s sci-fi, telling a press conference: “The project's concept comprises three parts – philosophical, legal and scientific/technological.
“Asgardia is a fully-fledged and independent nation, and a future member of the United Nations – with all the attributes this status entails.
“The essence of Asgardia is peace in space, and the prevention of Earth’s conflicts being transferred into space."

But it will also feature a “defence shield” to blast away asteroids and “manmade cosmic threats” – whatever they are.
DAHBOO777 questioned what a nation of 100,000 people might do with a massive space gun.
He said: “What do you do when you get something like this up in space and it has a weapon?
“That’s another thing they don’t want to talk about.
“They say this thing will be able to stop asteroids, help save the Earth.
“It would have to have one badass tractor beam or laser on it to do it.
“And if it could be pointed at them, it could be pointed at any spot on Earth.”
A number of famous people have been accused of being members of the Illuminati.
