With Thor: Love and Thunder keeping up the trend of throwing Chris Hemsworth's MCU hero into unpredictable adventures, fans have one question. Considering how dramatically Thor's appearance has changed in his past few movies, which comic costume will the filmmakers turn to for his next look?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has given costume transformations aplenty, whether introducing Smart Hulk in Endgame, an upgraded Iron Spider in Infinity War, and Captain America's ever-darkening tactical gear. But Thor kept largely the same look --long golden hair, red cape, six massive studs on his torso--until everything changed in Thor: Ragnarok. With a crew cut by Stan Lee himself and gladiator armor, the god of thunder is finally getting the same level of reinvention as his Avengers teammates. Now Thor 4 director Taika Waititi has a wide variety of classic Thor costumes to choose from, so let's run down some of the most exciting prospects.

If Marvel fans have never heard of or seen the incarnations of Ultimate Thor, Battle Armor Thor, Fear Itself Thor, and Unworthy Thor, you are in for a treat. And if one of these looks inspires Thor's next MCU appearance, the fans will recognize it instantly.

The Ultimate Thor Costume

Ultimate Marvel's Thor

When writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Carlos Pacheco revisited the origin of The God Of Thunder in Ultimate Comics Thor #1, his 2010 re-imagining came with a different look. The new design broadly resembled the costume Thor has worn throughout many of the MCU films, except he was relieved of his chain mail-like sleeves and red cape, wore cloth wrappings over his wrists, and his overall costume was almost black. Not a far cry from his costume seen in the closing moments of Thor: Ragnarok, so if Taika Waititi had already decided on his ideal style, this may be the chosen design.

Golden Battle Armored Thor

Another costume that Thor could be seen wearing in Thor: Love and Thunder, is Battle Armor Thor. In writer Walt Simonson and penciler Sal Buscema's Thor #378, the God Of Thunder enveloped his entire body in a silver and golden plate armor to fight off hordes of Frost Giants. The plot of Thor: Love and Thunder is largely unknown beyond the role played by Jane Foster, the Mighty Thor. But if Thor was to face massive foes that could deal horrendous damage to his body, it's clear that the Battle Armor Thor could be a high possibility.

Fear Itself Thor

When in doubt, go with chrome. In Marvel's "Fear Itself" comic event, Thor took on a new look as he fought against The Serpent. Once again, Thor decided to go with plate armor over a streamlined look, more closely resembling a bulky knight's glimmering and silver armor. Unlike the Ultimate Thor look, but similar to Battle Armor Thor; in Marvel's series "Fear Itself," The God Of Thunder wore a winged helmet and the polished chest dots his fans know and love (consider this one another strong contender).

The Unworthy Thor

The Definitive Guide to Marvel’s Coexisting Legacy Superheroes

In Marvel's series "The Unworthy Thor #1," writer Jason Aaron and penciler Olivier Coipel gave Thor a rogue look as he searched the star systems for another hammer that mirrored Mjolnir. Unlike Thor's appearance in the past, The God Of Thunder was given a red cape and hood, a sleeveless uniform that was absent of the six silver studs, and a new black prosthetic arm. Considering Thor's experiences of loss in the previous MCU films, it would be unfortunate for him to lose an arm; but who knows what will happen in the next film installment.

Considering the lack of knowledge regarding Thor: Love and Thunder's  story, it's difficult to know which costume Thor will wear next. But please let us know which costume you would like to see him wearing!
