On... moreIf your smartwatch shows you 190 over 115 instead of 200 over 120, you know you're still in trouble and need a blood pressure reducing medicine. And chances are that you're going to re-measure with a manual manometer. I see this as a big plus for a "quick glance" measurement. Having a 5-10% inaccuracy doesn't bother me at all, as long as people are aware that the device isn't accurate, and should be double-checked.

As such digital manometers have a huge margin of error.. Only icu multimonitors can accurately measure bp.. I really don't see the need for bp to be checked by a watch.. Heart rate is another thing.. Its useful for exercise monitoring.. Now if the new tech is actually accurate.. I expect Samsung to sell it as medical tech in place of invasive monitors

Anonymous, 15 Feb 2018Who caresAnyone with a family history of hypertension or hypotension combined with fainting spells. It is way less intrusive than stopping multiple times per day to attach a blood pressure cuff and measure your blood pressure in that way.

This is a big thing. Bp is very difficult to measure on a smartwatch. This would make a smartwatch a truly useful health monitor. I would buy it just to monitor bp over a working week.
