Leeds United swooped to sign a striker on deadline day, raiding West Brom for talented forward Tyler Roberts.

The Wales under-21 international was in demand from several clubs but Leeds wanted him most and Roberts told the club website this swayed his decision.

West Brom accepted Leeds’ offer through gritted teeth, with the striker’s contract set to expire in June.

They had been unable to offer Roberts first team football and the signing of Daniel Sturridge on loan appeared to be the last straw.

Roberts is still only 19 and has limited first team experience but based on the reaction from West Brom fans alone, Leeds supporters should be very excited about his arrival.

Baggies fans were frustrated to see Roberts exit, although realised the club were backed into a corner by his contract situation.

He is the second West Brom talent to currently star for Leeds following Kemar Roofe who signed via Oxford United, while the Whites benefited last season from former Baggies prospect Chris Wood’s goals.
