Get ready for some brand new Green Day.

On Thursday, the pop punk trio announced the release date and new details about Revolution Radio, their first album in almost four years, and released the lyric video for the album's first single, "Bang Bang." Later, they went live on Facebook to take fans on a tour of their never-before-seen studio.

While they may have been away from the recording studio for some time, it's clear the group hasn't lost their edge, or their interest in political and social activism.

Armstrong recently opened up about the album's lead single to Rolling Stone, explaining that the song is about "the culture of mass shooting that happens in America mixed with narcissistic social media."

"There's this sort of rage happening, but it's also now being filmed and we all have ourselves under surveillance," the 44-year-old musician explained. "To me, that is so twisted. To get into the brain of someone like that was freaky."

The band also revealed their forthcoming album's cover art on Instagram, which depicts a flaming boom box, melting from the heat.

Radio Revolution is Green Day's 12th studio album and their first since lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong checked into rehab for prescription-pill addiction in late 2012, just before the release of their Uno!, Dos! Tre! trilogy of albums hit shelves in September, November and December.

Revolution Radio comes out Oct. 7, and the band is gearing up to kick off their world tour later this year, although no dates have yet been announced.
