An interview with Sarah Jessica Parker, the new RoC ambassador.

According to a study conducted by RoC, 90% of women feel anxious about getting older. As a result, the brand has launched a new initiative based on optimism. The "RoC Look Forward" project aims to help women shift their mindsets from "anxiety about aging towards the joy of living" by introducing a number of practical solutions. 1) Providing women with the tools to help them be more optimistic about the passage of time. 2) To no longer retouch wrinkles, fine lines, and imperfections in advertising campaigns and other forms of visual media, in order to present a realistic view of our skin. And lastly, 3 ) partner with celebrities who are determined not to use skin-perfecting filters, which are known to contribute to age-related anxiety.
This project which is centered on kindness and self-compassion, is accompanied by the launch of a new product line, RoC's Correxion Hydrate + Plump, formulated with hyaluronic acid. The line features three products (capsules, a facial moisturizer, and an eye cream) designed to make skin appear fuller, plumper, and more luminous while simultaneously softening the onset of aging.

1. What is your personal routine for perfect, radiant skin?

“I actually don't test a lot of skincare products... I don't waste time changing or adding to my routine. In fact, I sometimes get overwhelmed by products with too many instructions and steps! That's why RoC products have quickly become my skincare staple. I don't travel without them. It's really nice to have simple products that are also effective.”

2. What's the best advice you've ever been given for achieving beautiful skin?

“For me, simplicity has always been the key. I have sensitive skin so if I find a product that suits me, I use it for a long time. I really do! A wise man once told me never to pick at blemishes and imperfections, to leave them alone, and use a topical product, not your fingers, to clear them up. I've stuck to that advice ever since!”

3. Do you wear makeup every day? If so, what are your favorite products?

"So I don't wear much make-up unless I have to. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, because I'm often wearing make-up for months and months on end on set, sometimes as much as 16 to 18 hours a day. So it helps to let my skin breathe when I'm not working. The second reason is that I feel much more like myself when I'm not wearing makeup."

4. What are your makeup must-haves?

“I'm pretty loyal to lip gloss. Sometimes I use blush. One product I love is Laura Mercier's Caviar Eye Stick, which I've found is the best for creating a smoky eye. I also don't wear foundation, only very sheer concealer.”

5. Do you have specific eating habits that help you maintain great skin? For example, do you take any nutritional supplements?

“I take vitamins and try to eat healthy when I can. But I don't have any supplements or any kind of holy grail for beautiful skin.”

6. How does American-style beauty compare with French-style beauty?

“In my opinion, French women always have more subtle, natural makeup. On some of my first trips to France, and other parts of Europe, I remember seeing women using less makeup than American women. That being said, I think that this can also be a bit of a generalization. As a matter of fact, I now see more and more women wearing natural makeup. I wouldn't say any one style is better than the other, so long as a woman feels good about herself and confident, then that's all that matters.”

7. What is your attitude towards aging and the passage of time?

“I don't really think about my age, I don't see it as something to worry about. Well, I don't know if it's denial or that I just don't want to face reality (laughs)! I don't see the point of trying to suspend time. Of course, I do care about my appearance from time to time and I do want to look presentable when it's appropriate. But in any case, I really can't do much about what people think of my appearance. How do I feel when I wear a dress? That's what matters. I dress in a way that makes me feel good and I hope that it's also interesting for people.”

8. As an actress, do you feel more pressure regarding your appearance?

“Nowadays, I don't really feel any pressure, but at times I have the impression that others may be more concerned about my appearance, which is rather strange. Like the fact that I have wrinkles or white hair. I think there are more interesting things to do with my time, don't you? One day I was sitting next to a very close friend, a woman younger than me. I wasn't wearing any make-up, my hair was pulled back in a bun, with some grey hair, and it caused quite a fuss. At the same time, there was also a younger man sitting right next to me, also with grey hair, whom I love, by the way, and no one made a thing of it! I just really can't be the person that others expect me to be.”

9. Do you think you feel better today than you did at 30, mentally and physically?

“I can't say I feel better in my body, I used to be able to spend two hours on a set, and my knees and feet wouldn't hurt. But in my head, I absolutely feel 100% better. With time, you accumulate all this experience, knowledge, and information, you make mistakes, and you learn. The more you learn, the better you know how to react and deal with challenges, problems, or disappointments.”

10. As an RoC ambassador, is there a message you would like to share with your audience?

"First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for all the love I have received from the women of my generation who have supported me for so many years on my professional journey. I feel truly honored by the connection I have with my audience. I would finally like to say thank you, and bravo to women in general, working mothers, single mothers, friends, aunts, sisters, daughters, and all those who support each other."
