Rachel Zoe’s new collection is a departure from the glamorous fare she typically serves up. A “modern interpretation of safari,”—i.e., “not so literal”—the smaller offering is equal parts commercial and outright easy. Ruffles, flouncy hems, and soft silhouettes all make appearances. The news is in the structured tailoring Zoe has added to the mix, which provides a more modern counterpoint to her familiar fil coupé dresses and oversize caftans.

Stamped-leather banding on a canvas utility jacket and gauchos feels inventive and fresh, and details like braided necklines, inset pleating, and dimensional metallic threading make other pieces pop. Zoe herself is sure to be seen in black stamped-leather bell-bottoms.

With a focus on her own direct-to-consumer business, Zoe is evolving her signature aesthetic, while also building out what she calls “the world of Zoe.” That includes forthcoming tees and denim and her first foray into handbags, launching this fall.
