Most Parisian locals are not “Parisian Chic”. This is because, much Like everyone else that lives in a Western metropolis, the people who live in Paris shop at normal places like Zara and H&M. And yet the idea that Parisians are conferred some kind of inimitable and insouciant relationship with clothing at birth is one of the most enduring cultural mythologies: berets, Breton stripes, pearls and polka dots.
Selena Gomez, who is visiting Paris for the spring 2024 collections, seems to be on a mission to cross off as many French Girl tropes as possible. The outsized white shirts, the LBDs, and this off-the-shoulder polka dot dress. Taken from Jacquemus’s Marie Antoinette-inspired fall 2023 collection, the musician wore that flirty little number to (I don’t know) eat baguettes on the Seine.

Perhaps their stylists had been prepping for fashion week by watching Emily In Paris, who rarely goes two episodes without wearing a polka dot blouse or a polka dot cardigan or a polka dot dress or a polka dot roll neck.
