Kristen Stewart might be a Chanel girl at heart, but this year her personal style has taken a more daring turn than the tweed-centric heritage brand is typically known for. Last week, she made headlines wearing a barely-there Bettter bodysuit and Wolford tights. Following this, she flaunted a provocative interpretation of the three-piece suit this week, opting to go braless and complementing the ensemble with loafers. What’s prompted this change? Could it be her forthcoming role in the queer thriller, Love Lies Bleeding, or is she simply embracing a “new year, new me” attitude in 2024?

Her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in New York this week certainly suggests as much. Stewart showcased not one, but two memorable outfits. She arrived wearing an ethereal black halter neck top and a floor-length satin skirt, both from Mônot’s pre-fall 2024 collection, along with a black leather biker jacket (which she later removed for photographs). She accessorized with sheer black knee-high Wolford socks, classic black Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses, a black quilted leather Chanel vanity case and cream Chanel ankle-strap pumps.

Stewart later swapped her sultry party top for a white baby tee bearing the inscription “Camp Stewart” in red. She kept her sheer socks on, but traded her Chanel heels for a pair of white Vans canvas lace-up trainers, achieving a dressed-down, quirky finish. Stewart, it seems, is feeling experimental–and we’ll be watching to see what happens next.
