Tellaro
Tellaro, located at the edge of the Gulf of La Spezia, is the easternmost village under the Municipality of Lerici. Perched on little cliff, Tellaro is a small seaside village that has been awarded the title of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy thanks to its picturesque features that make it one of the most beloved destinations for tourists.
It can be reached by car or on foot, walking on trails that from uphill villages gradually go down towards the coast. As in other villages across the Gulf, colorful houses are built on rocks overlooking the sea.
A very scenic bit of Tellaro is the Chiesa di San Giorgio (Saint George Church), with its antique pink façade, built on the rocks and surrounded by the sea.
Tellaro has been home to artists and writers and, over time, has welcomed different famous personalities, including the journalist and writer Mario Soldati.

Interesting facts
Its history is tied to a legend: one night, a big octopus wrapped around the hanging rope attached to the bells of the church, rang the bells and warned the population that the Saracen pirates were coming.
