The Svarta Bjørn march runs on the rally's old construction roads, and is a tribute to a young woman who worked as a cook for the rally during the construction of the Ofotbanen in Narvik. Anna Rebecka Hofstad came from Helgeland to work at the famous facility, and according to history, she was nicknamed "Black Bear" because of her willpower and her raven-black hair. The myths surrounding her are many, and today Svarta Bjørn® is a strong trademark for the wonderful area around the Ofotbanen.

The Svarta Bjørn march ends in a pleasant cultural event at Katterat Station.

The Svarta Bjørn march and Folkefest at Katterat are organized by Jernbanenes Musikkorps Narvik, Rallarklubben and Stiftelsen Vinterfestuka.
