One of the coolest buses ever created is coming up for auction.
It's the futuristic concept display vehicle that General Motors created to show off its vision of tomorrow. As usual, it's a tomorrow that never quite unfolded the way GM envisioned it.
The 1950 General Motors Futurliner is due to go on the block next January at the big Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Barrett-Jackson says the vehicle is one of 12 that GM built to house displays around the country, created during the heyday of legendary designer Harley Earl. It was part of what GM called the "Parade of Progress" that lasted through 1956.
This Futurliner is one of three that have been restored to their glory days. Currently it owned by an Arizona developer, Ron Pratte.
