Taiwanese singer Jimmy Lin has opened up about the harrowing car accident he experienced last July.

Speaking to reporters at a recent charity event, Lin, 48, said that the recovery process was slower than he imagined and that his physical strength is not as good as before.

The My Lucky Star singer added that he still has difficulty raising his right arm – which was affixed with a titanium rod.

"My right arm needs more therapy since it can't be raised as high as my left one," he said.

Sharing more about his health, Lin revealed that his weight dropped from 62kg to 54kg after his hospitalisation.

" I now eat five meals a day and take supplements, hoping my weight returns to at least 60kg. I weigh 56.5kg now, and I am planning on setting aside work temporarily to focus on taking good care of my health," he said.

During the interview, Lin shared that the hardest part about the car accident was the fact that his seven-year-old son, Jenson, was inside the automobile.

"I can't accept it, though I'm relieved he is unharmed. I try not to mention (about the accident) at home because I don't want him to be traumatised," he said.

Last month, Lin disclosed that he had to be woken up every few hours when he was in the hospital as the medical staff were worried his condition would deteriorate.

He also told Chinese media that he had to rely on painkillers as he was in constant agony, adding that the pain was "indescribable".

Lin, who made his singing debut in 1992, was driving a white Tesla with his son inside on July 22 when the car reportedly hit a road divider and burst into flames. The accident happened in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

Although his son was not injured, Lin had to undergo two operations – one to attach a titanium rod to his right arm and another to fix his facial fractures.
