Following the unsettling story about Charlyne Yi and David Cross, in which Charlyne alleged on Twitter that David had made racist jokes to her when he met her for the first time 10 years ago, Amber Tamblyn has spoken up in defense of Charlyne.

Amber has been married to David for five years and has a daughter with the actor. Initially, she defended her husband. But a few hours later, she explained that she spoke to Charlyne and said that they are "good."

People reports she defended him in a tweet on Thursday, October 19, in which she wrote, “He said he was sorry, publicly, several times. Please don’t @ me in conversations dragging my husband. Thanks,” to two Twitter user who were commenting on how potentially problematic David’s actual apology was.

However, later in the day, she revealed that she had talked to Charlyne. In a series of tweets, she explained that she had reached out to the actress and that she believes her. Amber wrote, "I spoke to @charlyne_yi and her feelings/safety are all that matter to me. We’re good. I owe you nothing, Twitter. You’re lucky to have me." Charlyne also liked the tweet.

Following her statement, Amber had to defend the politics of her position when one Twitter user called her out for seemingly defending white women who have been the victims of sexual assault or harassment, but not women of color. They wrote, "Just to get this straight @ambertamblyn you can believe white women about sexual harassment but not POC who come 4 your husband bout racism?" To this, Amber stated she believed all women, regardless of their race or identity.

After addressing the criticism, Amber also spoke out about people holding David's actions against her. She wrote, “I will say this for the last time. Do not hold women accountable for the actions, decisions or words of their partners. Don’t. Do it.” In attempting to draw a line between herself and David in regards to their actions, it’s still a little fuzzy on how exactly she is handling the allegations made against him; regardless, what matters is that it appears she is defending and believing Charlyne, publicly and privately.
