Chlorophytum elatum 'Variegatum' commonly known as a spider plant is popular houseplant. A cream and green broad-leaved plant with separate clusters of small white flowers attached by creamy-white stems that also bear small plants - baby spiders.
A popular plant that is non-toxic, easy to maintain and is also known for its air-purifying properties, filtering airborne toxins and improving indoor air quality.
Thrives in moist but well drained soil, water more sparingly over winter. Prefers bright, indirect light to moderate light, keep out of direct sunlight to avoid scorching the delicate leaves. Spider plants are reasonably hardy and should survive temperatures above 8°C. Will tolerate drier air but prefers a higher humidity, consider misting if the tips of the leaves turn brown.
