The area around Sylarna Mountain Station is home to lots of magnificent places and there are many wonderful full or half-day excursion to choose from.

Storsylen

From our mountain station, it’s not far to the spectacular Syl massif, where you will find many peaks including Storsylen, which is the highest at 1,762 metres above sea level. On your way up to this peak, along steep rocky ridges, you also pass the two peaks Pyramiden and Mellantoppen before reaching the Norwegian border and the magnificent peak of Storsylen. Along the way you will also see the Syl Glacier! From the top, you can enjoy a fantastic view out over large parts of the Jämtland mountains and the Norwegian lake Nesjøen.

Ekorrdörren’s windbreak

The trip to Ekorrdörren is perfect for those who are looking for a scenic full-day excursion that follows the mountain trails. Along the route there are beautiful views of the dramatic valley Tempeldalen, expansive views towards Helags and views out over the magnificent pass Ekorrpasset. Once at Ekorrdörren’s windbreak you will find the ultimate place to get your picnic out and look out over the spectacular landscape before heading back!

Tempeldalen

This magnificent valley is surrounded by dramatic slopes, with the mountain Slottet to the north, glaciers to the west and the characteristic Tempelpinacklarna to the south. The valley is characterised by its stark beauty in both summer and winter. In summer you can see the wide rock field that stretches over the bottom of the valley and in winter everything is covered by glistening snow. Sheltered behind a rock or sitting in a sun pit, this is the perfect picnic spot!

The glacial lake in the Syl massif

By the foot of the mountains in the Syl massif, you will find the beautiful and clear blue glacial lake. From here you can see all the peaks of the massif and the Syl Glacier, Sweden’s second most southerly glacier. In the summer it offers the opportunity to enjoy a very refreshing dip for those who want to do so!

Alpine ski touring around Sylarna

The high mountains in the area around the mountain station offer many magnificent runs in untouched snow. There are great opportunities for majestic and challenging runs in steep environments in the Syl massif, but there are also some easier runs from the peaks Herrklumpen and Vaktklumpen. The high alpine environment around Sylarna is peculiar in that it is so far south in the Swedish mountains!

Relax in our sauna

Relax, socialise and let the energy and warmth return to your body – a sauna will work wonders after a day in the mountains! Sylarna has two saunas, one for ladies and one for gents. If you want a mixed sauna we have set times in the gents’ sauna for this purpose. The sauna is always warm from 15:00–20:30 every day. You can rent a towel from us.
