When thinking about makeup trends that dominated BeautyTok and other realms of social media this year, it’s hard not to think about neon looks. From glittery, radiant eyeshadow inspired by the characters of the mega-hit show, Euphoriato 60s-esque, Tumblr-inspired graphic eyeliner with a more vibrant twist, there’s no denying the popularity of neon makeup looks, and the way that they can emphasize any kind of skin tone!

With that said, we rounded up 22 stunning neon makeup looks from social media, and checked in with a professional makeup artist to learn more about the trend. Read on for additional tips, suggestions and insight from Cara Lovello, celebrity and bridal makeup artist.

22 Neon Makeup Looks We Are Loving

1. Florescent Pink Eyeliner

This neon style really revamps the classic cat-eye liner look with the help of bright pink eyeshadow, blended white gel eyeliner, and florescent pigment on top. The key here, as the TikTok creator and makeup artist in the viral clip above demonstrates, is to draw out each cat-eye evenly, and then layer each product. It’s essential to focus on emphasizing the white liner to make the overall eye look pop even more!

2. Red Neon Under-Eye Shadow

This take flips a classic blended eyeshadow look to your under-eye area, and looks just as cool and vibrant! In this video, the artist applies fiery red shadow underneath their eyes as the final step. Before this, the TikToker added a concealer as a primer to their eyelids for a secure base with the help of a brush. Next, the creator uses a brownish shade for the eyelids, adds more concealer for highlight, white shade on top of this, and later tops it all off with a liquid liner (forming a siren-eye-inspired cat-eye) and mascara. For the last (and most vital) steps, they then add cut-crease base under the eyes, and a rich red neon shade to complete.

3. Three-Lined, Orange Cat-Eye

This neon look is not only so simple to do, but also a cool way to combine a 60s cat-eye with a liner style that your favorite Euphoria character would rock (we can def see Alexa Demie’s Maddy Perez in this!) In the TikTok video, the artist applies three lines with their orange neon product (from Mexican brand Natural Girl), including one short line at the crease of the eyelid, a longer, thicker one underneath, and a final short line at the tail of the cat-eye. To top it off, the creator adds highlight to the inner corners of the eyes to emphasize the brightness of the liner even more.

4. Pink Neon Skull

If you’re looking for a last-minute Halloween costume idea, you might not need to dress up at all! As seen in this TikTok video, your spooky season ensemble can center entirely around your makeup look. The creator in this clip is seen using white liner from Barry M Cosmetics to first outline a skull on their face, and then applying neon pink pigment from Take Two Cosmetics over it for added vibrance. The result is a spooky-yet-glam skull look that would definitely impress anyone at a Halloween party by glowing in the dark!

5. Neon ‘Pennywise’ Look

For another great modern spin on a classic Halloween costume, we found a neon makeup tutorial for a Pennywise-from-IT look. This TikToker starts off with white eyelid primer from e.l.f. Cosmetics, then uses black, smudgy liner to trace a cat-eye shape, and then fills in the rest of the lid with pink neon pigment. Next, the artist uses more black liner to emphasize the cat-eye before adding liquid foundation, contouring their nose, using highlighter, and then drawing the iconic dotted clown nose and lines on their cheeks and forehead with red neon pigment. To top it off, they then rock red lipstick and spooky contacts.

6. Neon Green Siren Eye

This neon makeup look also integrates elements of the ‘siren-eye’ trend, which involves a dramatic, kohl-rimmed eye with emphasized inner corners and a long, cat-eye tail to draw the eye upwards. This makeup artist firstly draws their black cat-eye with the help of a Tarte Cosmetics liner and tape on the ends, and utilized a brush to blend in their inner corners. Next, they apply neon green liner from Covar Beauty to trace the crease of the eyelids, to go just above the previous black lines at the inner corners, and other small tails just above the other ones. This is a simple way to revamp your go-to cat-eye, and surely stand out when the lights go off!

7. Neon Pink Blush

To emphasize their smokey eye look, this TikTok creator uses neon pink blush on their cheekbones from Colour Pop Cosmetics. This rich, bright and illuminating color, as seen on the makeup artist, works so well with darker skin tones. While previous looks in this list may bring on the drama, this powdery product and application style can provide an instant pop of color whether you wish to shine bright in the dark or casually promote a more symmetrical look for daily wear in the sun, too.

8. Neon Yellow Eyebrow Flames

If you’re headed to a party and want to turn heads instantly, we recommend trying this fiery, intricate and surprisingly simple makeup look! This artist first sticks a string to their eyelids and on top of their eyebrows after dipping it in neon yellow pigment. After blending, the result is a unique take on neon makeup, and one that can be used to dazzle up any outfit or Halloween costume that involves a ‘fire’ theme.

9. Purple Shaded Graphic Liner

This graphic liner look focuses more on a neon outline rather than full-colored eyelid, with shaded, bright violet emphasis tracing a classic cat-eye. This artist first draws a cat-eye shape and circles the eyes with purple, neon pigment, and blends this outwards. Next, this is filled in with white eyeshadow, and both the white and purple colors highlight the inner corners and have epic tails like a normal siren-eye would. It really takes Twiggy-esque graphic liner to the next level!

10. Bejeweled Siren Eye

If you’re a fan of neon looks, a trendy siren-eye and adding even more bedazzled bling to your peepers, you’re in luck! This look starts out with white eyeshadow applied in a circular shape across the lid with a highlighted inner corner and cat-eye tail at the end. The artist then adds glistening silver shadow over this, and then sticks on shiny neon jewels at the crease of the eyelids and tail, outlining the cat-eye shape. More are applied to the eyebrows before the creator draws on a thick black line on the top lids, pointy inner corners and dramatic black tails to complete.

11. Rainbow Mosaic Cat-Eye

If you’re having trouble choosing a neon color to complete your makeup look, this artist shows that you can work with multiple! While the creator selects practically all pigment colors of the rainbow for this cat-eye, you really can use any once you get the technique down. In the tutorial, viewers can see that the eyebrows and lids are primed and prepped, with little sections of each bright color then filled in across the eyelid with a brush. Next, the TikToker traces out a cat-eye shape with black liner, while also breaking off each color section with more lines. They then add little silver sequin stickers to these lines, looking as if the eyelids are part of a mosaic artwork. Stunning!

12. Neon Pink Lipstick

For those who would rather emphasize their pouts with a neon hue rather than their eyes, this is certainly doable with a trusty bright lipstick! In this video, the artist is seen applying neon pink liquid lipstick from Urban Decay for a pop of color to an otherwise rosy makeup look. This draws eyes to their lips while also matching their pink eyeshadow and a quintessential black liner cat-eye.

13. Neon Yellow Siren Eye

This is another great siren-eye inspo video, and the makeup artist dazzles up their look with a rich yellow pigment hue from Makeup A Murder. All our favorite elements of a sultry siren-eye are still present— from dramatic lined inner corners to an outlined cat-eye tail, but the MUA also brings more attention to the latter with flicks of white liner underneath the black tail shape. It’s then all topped off with sky-high lashes and smokey gray eyeshadow that blends from the black liner into the yellow pigment.

14. Sparkly Neon Violet Eyeshadow

This look upgrades a simple black winged cat-eye with the help of an ultra-sparkly, neon violet eyeshadow color. In this video, the artist simply brushes ‘electric neon’ eyeshadow from Karla Cosmetics over the model’s eyelid and inner corners, giving us a quick and easy way to bring more attention to a good ‘ol black liquid liner cat-eye overall.

15. Neon Yellow Outlined Smokey Eye

This smokey eye look is instantly revamped with the help of neon yellow pigment that traces the cat-eye shape and is more visible with rich, black shadow across the eyelid. The artist in this clip first uses white liner to trace a typcial cat-eye shape, then adds yellow pigment to this to make it not only brighter but also stay on longer, and then fills in the remaining space with black liner and shadow. To finish, they then trace the yellow with black liner, and blend at the eyelid crease and also add black shadow to the under-eye line as well.

16. Orange, Pink and Yellow Embellished Cat-Eye

This cat-eye features three prominent neon eyeshadow pigment colors: yellow, orange and pink. The artist in this TikTok upload is seen applying an orange hue to their primed lids, adding this color specifically to the inner corners and beginning of the eyelid crease. Next, they add pink pigment to fill in the space beside the orange, and then blending both together with a brush. They then add yellow just below their eyebrow arches, before creating a more defined cat-eye tail with a blended burgundy shade. Sparkly yellow shadow is then dotted in the center of the eyelids before sparkly stick-on jewels are applied at the inner corners and ends of the tail. To complete, they then add false lashes and liquid liner for extra pizzazz.

17. Neon Green Half-Siren Eye

A full siren-eye usually traces the entire upper eyelid line, and sometimes even the crease to make the eye look bigger and brighter. This look is a great option for beginners, those in a rush, or anyone who only wants a bit of color to emphasize their peepers. This makeup artist drew a singular neon green tail line at the end of their eyes, and one sole inner corner line without ever touching the top lid. Next, they outlined these with brown pencil liner, and put on a dash of sparkly gold eyeshadow to complete the look. For a great neon green product, our expert source Cara Lovello recommends Sephora‘s ‘gel pencil in matte lime.’

18. Neon Yellow Smokey Eye

This stunning smokey eye is enhanced even more with the help of a bright neon yellow pigment on the eyelids! Before adding anything neon, the makeup artist first applied black, gray, subtle purple and blue shades to their clients lids, and blended this altogether. Next, they dipped a brush in neon yellow pigment and placed this over the other colors, to create a shiny and sultry look overall. According to the MUA, the rich neon hue came from the Danessa Myricks Beauty ‘Lightwork Vol. IV: Transcendence Palette.’

19. Rich Magenta Winged Cat-Eye

This bright pink, winged cat-eye is both simple and effective for either beginners to neon makeup or pros who want a timeless and show-stopping eye look. By using a rich magenta pigment hue from one of Danessa Myricks’ waterproof palettes, this artist outlined their client’s eyes with one sole color, adding it all across the top lid, on the under-eyes, and also formed a sleek lined wing for even more drama.

20. Layered, Multicolored Siren Eye

This siren eye— like several in this list before it— combines bold, clean black lines with radiant, stunning pigments and eyeshadow colors. Shades of muted pink and darker blue help outline a cat-eye shape with the help of brighter, neon green, yellow, and light blue hues for an intricate and exquisite overall eye look! Once again, this shows that if you want more than one color, you can always layer them on top of each other to make your black liner cat-eye stand out even more.

21. Blotchy, Rainbow Cat-Eye

This epic and fun look allows the wearer to add as much color as they want to help their thick, liquid black liner stand out. This makeup artist chose to apply pigmented neon shades on their eyelid in an abstract, unkempt, and unique way that brings more attention to their classic wing and voluminous lashes. By not blending the colors together, each is more visible and distinct!

22. Neon Green Batty Cat-Eye

This cute and gorgeous eye look combines a stunning neon green pigment from Take Two Cosmetics with a signature black liner cat-eye, and little drawn bats in time for Halloween! The artist added a neon layer above their eyeliner, and then a line of sparkly, silver liquid liner, while also blending red and violet smokey shadows above that. Our favorite aspect of this whole look as to be the cute little bats, though, which the artist stamped on under their brows, at the ends of their cat-eye tail, and below this as well.

Overall, Lovello says that 2022 “runway makeup and the Euphoria craze” have kept neon liner “coming back season after season.” You can always revert to this list for inspiration whether it’s Halloween or just a fun night out, and ultimately “have fun with makeup by trying a pop of color in your look,” as Lovello says. She concludes that (if you don’t know where to begin) lighter skin tones can try a “cool neon blue color,” and darker complexions always look great in “a lime green or orange.” No matter what though, she adds, it’s most important to “have fun,” as “there are no strict rules with neon makeup!”
