In our Sleeping With… series, we ask people from different career paths, backgrounds, and stages of life how they make sleep magic happen.

Miranda Kerr began her career in the spotlight as the first Australian Victoria’s Secret Angel. Now she’s the founder and CEO of an international beauty monolith—Kora Organics—and mother to three boys: Flynn, whom she shares with ex-husband Orlando Bloom, and Myles and Hart, with her husband, Snapchat cofounder Evan Spiegel. To put it in short: She’s keeping plenty busy.

“The kids kept me up last night,” Kerr tells SELF from her home in Los Angeles. “Between the three of them I was up four times, so I'm exhausted today. Thinking about sleep, I'm like, ‘Ooh, that sounds good.’”

By day, Kerr tends to Kora, though she always strives to make it home for her children’s bath and bedtime. Her skin-care routine consists of a lengthy Kora lineup (read on for Kerr’s picks) and her self-care occurs in the early hours of the morning. She speaks about “diving inward” with a deep level of introspection; she focuses on working to fill her cup.

In honor of the brand’s latest launch—Berry Bright Vitamin C Eye Cream, its first-ever eye cream—Kerr walks SELF through a standard night in the Kerr-Spiegel household. “When you can give yourself that time and have your little rituals that make you feel good,” she says, “then you can give so much more back to your family, to your business, to your work, and your friends.” For Kerr’s bedtime routine, read on below.

The children’s nighttime routine starts at around 5 p.m. because I like to feed and bathe them around that time.

Most of the time we have an early dinner around 5 p.m., just the children and me. Then I give them a bath, and read books, and then it's lights out for them by 6:30 p.m. Once they're asleep, my nightly routine is something that I really look forward to because it's time just for me, and I can unwind when they're in bed.

Something that I love doing, but I do maybe only once a week, is take a nice bath.

I tie my hair up, dim the lights, light a few candles, burn some palo santo, and play some relaxing music. I love Snatam Kaur. She has the voice of an angel and it's very healing. I put a rose quartz crystal at the basin of the tub because it just fills the bath with that loving energy. Kora has an incredible body wash that I use actually for the kids and myself. I also use the Kora body lotion for the kids, the body balm, and then the Noni Glow Face Oil and Body Oil for the kids, and they love it. [Editor's note: Noni is a plant found in the Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, Australia, and India.] I have a one-and-a-half-year-old, and if he gets any kind of dryness on his cheeks, I just use the face balm on him. It's so good to have in your bag, or in the baby bag to use on your kids. My 10-year-old especially loves it, and he will try his little nighttime routine with me.

I cleanse my skin with the Milky Mushroom Cleansing Oil, which is such a lovely experience.

I call it my Milky Silky Mushroom Cleanser because it has that milky, silky texture that leaves your skin so soft and clean. It's not stripping your skin. It melts away makeup. We use essential oils for an element of aromatherapy, and this specific cleanser has the essential oils of rose, geranium, and basil. I just love the sensory experience of that.

Then I use the Noni Night AHA Resurfacing Serum. For anyone that's having issues with maskne, it helps with that. It helps with fine lines as well. After I apply the serum, I apply our Turmeric Glow Moisturizer, which is very hydrating and brightening. It's the crème de la creme of all face creams. You've probably heard about Katy Perry talking about her experience with it. She has very different skin from me. She's spoken a lot about her issues with acne and how she always wanted that luxurious, rich, moisturized experience, but those types of products would cause her to break out. She loves the fact that this moisturizer gives her skin that glow that she's looking for, but it doesn't break her out.

Then I use the face oil if I need a little more of a boost, and the eye oil as well. The eye oil contains Kahai oil, which is a retinol alternative, and it has a rose quartz roller ball. Then my very last step is the Noni Glow Sleeping Mask. I keep that next to my bed. It has a very thin texture and it dries as a translucent veil—it locks in the moisture and doesn't rub off on your pillow.

My husband uses all of these products too.

Every day he uses the turmeric scrub in the shower, then he uses the moisturizer and the face oil. Those are his go-to products as well as the body lotion and body wash. It's just so cute to see that he loves it so much. He used to have very dry skin and Kora has transformed his skin, so I think he's addicted now.

I love to have crystals by my bed.

I have a rose quartz and an amethyst. I also have my eye mask, which has a little space for your eyelashes to move. It’s called the MZOO Contoured Cup Sleeping Mask. It just blocks out any light, and I got into a habit of using that when I was working and traveling a lot a few years ago.

Earplugs really help as well to go deep within your center and block everything else out. I also have a white noise machine—and keep in mind, I still have the baby monitors next to my bed on top of all of this. It's more of a habit with the ear plugs and the eye mask, and oftentimes they come off, but it just helps me get into that head space. It's like, “Okay, it's time to relax.” I also have a diffuser that I put on. It uses an aromatherapy oil called Organic Aromas, which I like. And sometimes a lemon tea with honey is really nice at night.

I put my phone on airplane mode, which I think is important for unplugging at the end of the night.

It's a great opportunity to disconnect a little. Having an international company, I can never really switch off, so it's important to take that time. Meditation can be really helpful. There are some great meditations on Insight Timer for if you have a few moments in the day, if you need to recharge, or if you want to wind down at night. Then I spray Kora Organics Lavender Mist on my pillow—I keep it next to my bed.

In the morning I wake up extra early. I’m up before the kids so I have time to give back to myself.

When you can give yourself that time and have your little rituals that make you feel good, then you can give so much more back to your family, to your business, to your work, and your friends. Self-care is so important, and when you find things that make you feel good, then you should really try to prioritize time for doing those things. Whether you enjoy doing yoga, or running, or reading books, how do you unwind? And how can you give back to yourself so that you feel full, so that you can then be the best version of yourself? I had more time to do that when I was younger. I have less time now, but I still make sure that I invest in doing those things for myself because I give so much more back when my cup is full. I think that sometimes, as mothers, we forget that.

My grandmother, who basically raised me, taught me the importance of having generosity of spirit and living from that space of heart-centeredness.

I feel like that is intertwined within my life in everything that I do. Even just sitting with her and having a cup of tea—that was the way that she got to have little moments of peace throughout. She would just say, “Okay, let's sit and have a nice cup of tea and talk.” She also taught me the value of prayer, she also taught me that health is wealth, and she's the one that introduced me to Noni. Noni is the key ingredient across Kora products. I've been drinking it since I was 13 because of her.
