Just curious if any goby specialists here can identify the exact species of this guy. I'm guessing a member of the Trimma group, but maybe not. The tall solid white fin and pointed snout have me flummoxed.

That’s closer to being related to a hawkfish and is often sold as a Pygmy hawkfish/perchlet.

Awesome. Thanks everyone. No wonder I couldn't find anything exactly similar when I searched for goby images. Typical LFS story. They told me it was a Trimma. Not so much :)

Yeah, LFS’s information can be good and bad but most of the time they give the wrong information. I heard this when one of the guys tried to sell a Coral Beauty Angel to a couple with a 4’x2’x2’ tank, and had already got a snowflake eel, a couple lions (Volitans) and a puffer (Porcupine). I really wanted to say something but due to how good the other guy in there is, he caught it and mentioned it wouldn’t be a great idea. The guy has learnt much more on the different ideal setups certain fish need. I’ve helped him out more now and when it’s a question he can’t answer it comes to me.
So really, just gain some trust with the LFS and help them out with certain misidentifications or other things they can’t completely answer.
