There’ve been $1 billion in sales in the new One Circular Quay apartment tower, including a $37m skyhome and $60m and $70m sub-penthouses.
The 1000sqm five-bedroom north-east facing penthouse with pool and iconic views is still available but is expected to be priced between $140m-$150m, making it the most expensive property ever sold in Australia.
Developer Lendlease released a progress update this week regarding the new 58-level building with Tom Mackellar, Managing Director Development, advising: “One Circular Quay is fast taking shape.”

He added: “This iconic luxury residential tower, at one of the most prestigious addresses in the world, demonstrates real strength in Sydney’s residential market, and once again elevates Sydney’s real state onto the world stage.”
Lendlease, which is constructing the 158-apartment tower on the former Gold Fields House site with Mitsubishi Estate Asia, is being secretive about the specifics of the top-end sales and even about who’s been taking a look.

Half of the available apartments have sold, but CBRE sales agents are also being very guarded with information.
Entrepreneur Roxy Jacenko said she inspected the display suite with CBRE’s Caroline Fagerlund, but the agent said she couldn’t discuss the buyers or any specific sales.
Other sources, though, had previously confirmed the $60m and $70m sub-penthouse sales before Christmas and it’s now known that a skyhome sold two weeks ago for more than $37m.
It’s not known if the sub-penthouse buyers are locals or from off-shore, but it was a couple from Sydney who snapped up the skyhome recently.
All of the two-bedroom apartments have now sold, in the $5.4m to $7.5m range, with the remaining three-bedders starting at $10.5m.
There’s just one one-bedroom apartment in building, but that is being reserved for buyer of the penthouse.
Designed by the late award-winning Australian architect Kerry Hill, the residential
tower will soar 200 metres with levels 50-55 home to six full-floor sub-penthouses.
Levels 56 to 58 will be reserved for the penthouse boasting five bedrooms, a private lift, floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of Sydney’s world-famous harbour, and a north-facing swimming pool and terrace.
CBRE Residential Projects chairman Justin Brown said: “One Circular Quay is by far the best location sitting between both of Australia’s icons, being the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, whilst facing north.”
