When Toyohisa Shimazu is wounded in the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600, he finds himself transported to a white hallway filled with countless doors. Pulled through one of them, he's brought to a world completely different than where he was. In this new, fantastical land, Toyohisa finds that there are countless other famous warriors thought to be dead there as well. Together, they are the "Drifters" who are brought here to fight against the "Ends". Drifters is an anime that's exceptionally unique in its storyline, much like Hellsing, and also includes plenty of bloody action for those needing a little spice in their watch list.

Dante is half-demon and half-human; his unique position makes him the perfect person to become a demon hunter. Running his business, known as "Devil May Cry", Dante takes on different jobs to defeat demons. Using his sword Rebellion and his two guns Ebony and Ivory, he's able to take down these evil creatures easily. The cool thing about this anime series is that there's also a video game it was based on! If you've not played it yet and love the anime, you should most certainly check it out.

Despite seeming to live a life of luxury, Ciel Phantomhive has gone through hell and returned to tell the tale. Upon his return to his estate, he travels with a strange man named Sebastian who seems to have inhuman capabilities. Known as "the Queen's Guard Dog", Ciel and his butler will do whatever it takes to solve various crimes around Victorian England. The dark, gothic setting and excellent story building make this anime an excellent followup if you've already watched Hellsing. If you're looking for twisted tales and demonic-filled storylines, look no further.

  • Cadis Etrama di Raizel is not exactly human. After waking up from a short nap of 820 years, he decides it's time to start life as a high school student. Despite his odd nature, he seems to be experiencing his new reality relatively well. When strange creatures, known as "Unions", begin to attack, it's up to Raizel and his minion, Frankenstein, to save his new human friends. With the supernatural and, specifically, monsters being one of the biggest themes in this anime, you can see exactly why you'd watch it right after Hellsing

Rokurou Okajima was your average businessman until he was captured by the mercenary group, Black Lagoon. Originally, he was to be used as a bargaining chip and hostage, but the plan failed when his employers abandoned him. Now he's a part of the team and adapting to his new, and very dangerous, life. Much like Hellsing, Black Lagoon has a lot of action and a ton of messed up drama that will keep your eyes glued to the screen. If you enjoy this kind of action-packed genre, it'll certainly be worth the watch.

Abel Nightroad is a priest sent by the Vatican in order to protect humans from vampires. The two species have been locked in a brutal war and Abel is in somewhat of a unique standing to help change the tides. As a crusnik, he's a vampire that drinks the blood of other vampires. He's a member of the organization "Ax" which is determined to stop the vampires from causing more trouble. But on their opposing side, Abel's twin brother, Cain, is running his organization in hopes of ruling the world. This is a great vampire anime and it also has the same kind of twist that Hellsing did with a vampire playing on the human's side. With plenty of interesting strategies being played out on this battlefield, watch to see who will win!

Clare is a "Claymore", a being that is half-human and half-demon. The creatures she was created to destroy are known as "youma;" they hunger for human flesh and are completely chaotic. She gains a companion named Raki after saving him from his village's mass destruction. Together they set out on a journey that will reveal Clare's backstory and her fellow warriors as she seeks out revenge against the youma that made her become a Claymore. This anime is not joking around; it's incredibly dark and some of the scenes can be exceptionally graphic. Hellsing is known for some of its messed up scenes and Claymore is no different in this respect.

Vash is said to be one of the most dangerous guys around and, with a $60,000,000,000 bounty on his head, it's hard not to believe it. But if you met the guy, he's actually a huge softie with a love for donuts who tries to avoid violence at all costs. Traveling the planet of Gunsmoke with two insurance agents, there to help him minimize his impact on the public, Vash goes on various adventures. However, as the series goes on, Vash's troubled past seems to come back from the shadows and his morals are pushed to the limit. This anime certainly has brighter spots to it than Hellsing, namely because of the lead character's personality, but it also has many of the same kinds of twists and violent turns that made Hellsing so good in the first place.

  • Akira Fudou has always been a bit of a crybaby. He's also incredibly gullible, so when his childhood friend, Ryou Asuka, asks for help in researching devils, he accepts. What he doesn't realize is that they're going to a Sabbath; a party where people lose all sense of morals. As demons begin to possess the various partygoers, death and destruction are sure to follow. Desperate to save his friend, he merges with the devil Amon and becomes a Devilman with supernatural powers to help defeat the demons. Now that he is both a Devilman and a crybaby, his life is about to get extremely complicated and interesting. This anime is a bit new but has had raving reviews. Hellsing had plenty of complexities to its storyline and so does Devilman Crybaby; the two deal with the border between humanity and the supernatural.

With horns and "vectors", you can already tell that Lucy is anything but human. In fact, she's something called a "Diclonius;" a humanoid mutant. After being heavily experimented on, Lucy finally escapes and is rescued by a boy named Kouta and his cousin Youka. The story revolves around the trio constantly getting tangled in situations due to Lucy's past and nature. Much like Hellsing, this anime has plenty of messed up scenes that will make your stomach turn; will you be able to stand watching it?

If you need even more vampire-like creatures than what Hellsing gave you, consider Blood+ for your next binge-watching session. Saya Otonashi can't remember what her life was like before the previous year. Living with her adopted family and struggling with amnesia, there's nothing too strange about her. The memories begin to come back when a creature thirsting for blood attacks her. Saved by a strange man named Haji, he forces her to drink his blood. She becomes a part of his organization, Red Shield, in order to help protect the world from these monsters. This anime is incredibly freaky and has a lot of elements viewers may find disturbing, but if you think you can handle it, it's certainly a gory-type of series that most thriller and horror lovers will like.

  • School field trips can be strange, but this one was completely weird; Ganta Igarashi and his classmates were scheduled to see a prison amusement park known as Deadman Wonderland. But before the students could even get there, they were all ruthlessly murdered by a man in red. Being the only one to survive, their deaths were pegged on Ganta. Now he's been sentenced to the very place his class was to visit. Inside this prison, he must figure out how to survive and find the man that killed his friends. This show is extremely messed up, but also incredibly entertaining to watch. With plenty of twists and intense fight scenes, this series is perfect for any thriller lover.

  • In need of something filled with both gore and fan service? High School of the Dead is known for these exact two things. When the dead begin to rise in Japan, Takashi Kimuro is forced to kill his best friend and promise to protect his girlfriend, Rei Miyamoto. Teaming up with several other students, the team sets out to find their family members, figure out what caused this mayhem and survive the apocalypse. This show is not exactly for the faint of heart and can be, at times, inappropriate so viewer discretion is advised. However, if you managed to watch Hellsing, you can probably watch this.
