Authorities in Sweden have reportedly launched a rape investigation into “Suicide Squad” actor Joel Kinnaman, a week after he revealed he filed a restraining order against a Swedish model with whom he says he previously had a “brief romantic relationship.”

A spokesperson for the Swedish Prosecution Authority confirmed on Wednesday that Kinnaman is at the center of an ongoing probe regarding an alleged rape.

“The prosecutor got the case today and has hardly been able to look at it,” the spokesperson told E! News. “She has said there is a need for further investigative matters before she can make a decision.”

The rape accusation comes just days after “The Killing” actor shared in a lengthy Instagram post that he was granted a restraining order against Gabrielle Magnusson, who also goes by Bella Davis. Kinnaman said he initially connected with the model in 2018, noting they had “consensual sex” for the first in November of that year.

The pair met up again the following month and again had “consensual” sex, according to Kinnaman. This time however, Magnusson did not spend the night because Kinnaman had to be at work early the following morning, he said.

“The next night she texted me that she was bothered that I had not asked her to spend the night and that I did not check with her to make sure she made it home safely,” he wrote.

In the years after, Kinnaman said the model reached out on multiple occasions, sometimes with explicit photos, but he did not answer because he was in a relationship by then. He claimed her behavior quickly escalated, becoming “more antagonistic, threatening, and frightening over time.”

“Recently, Bella resorted to threatening to publicize false information about me — including that I had sex with her against her will — unless I capitulated to her demands,” Kinnaman wrote, claiming that she requested things like a photoshoot with “Sports Illustrated,” a Wikipedia page, a verified Instagram account and hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In a statement to People, Davis denied having “ever threatened or asked for money.” She has also been outspoken about the accusations on her Instagram account, claiming Kinnaman is “lying” and that she told his team she was “choosing to go to the cops.”

A spokesperson for the actor told TMZ that Kinnaman “will be cooperating with police to clear his name.”
