Outstanding Player

Elise Gasperecz/St. Joseph’s Academy, Jr.

An ability to provide a spark in different ways was evident in versatile setter/outside hitter Gasperecz. The Division I, District 3 MVP, she led St. Joseph’s in kills (184) and assists (515) as the Redstickers advanced to the state quarterfinals. Gasperecz, who also had 354 digs, was named to three all-tournament teams during the season.

Maggie Duplechein/St. Amant, Jr.

Despite missing half the season because of injury, she finished with 240 kills, 167 digs and 226 assists.

Jordan Stephens/Central, Jr.

Offensive MVP of Division II, District 3. Compiled 466 kills with a .295 hitting percentage and 118 digs.

Kristen Thompson/Dutchtown, Jr.

First-team Division I, District 4 with a .321 hitting percentage, 473 kills, 87 blocks and 392 assists.

Emily Venable/East Ascension, Jr.

A setter who helped the Spartans reach the Division I regionals with 708 assists, 316 digs and 87 aces.

Leanne Sorrel/Zachary, So.

A versatile outside hitter and setter, she had 274 kills, a .370 hitting percentage, 230 digs and 314 assists.

Jodi Edo/Woodlawn, Sr.

Led Woodlawn to the Division I regionals with 280 kills, 350 digs and 67 blocks.

Melanie Miller/St. Joseph’s, Jr.

A defensive specialist for the Division I, District 3 champion, she had 613 digs, 86 assists and 41 aces.

Sameera Mohamed/Baton Rouge High, Sr.

She had 646 assists, 335 digs and 109 aces as Baton Rouge High advanced to the Division I regionals.

Kourtney Gremillion/St. Amant, Sr.

Named all-district for the Division I, District 4 champion with 565 assists, 312 kills and 277 digs.

Dreona Clayton/Zachary, Sr.

The Division I, District 3 defensive player of the year had 406 digs, 62 assists and 28 aces.

Kaitlyn Cooke/Central, Sr.

Directed the Central attack by tallying 995 assists while adding 210 digs and 41 aces.

Coach of the Year

Michele LeBouef/Central

It was a memorable season for LeBouef and her team, which set school records for wins (37) and highest playoff seeding (fourth in Division II). The Wildcats advanced to the state tournament for the first time since 2010 before a quarterfinal loss ended their run.

Outstanding Player

Alexandra Mitchell/Episcopal, Sr.

An effective back-row hitter and defensive player, Mitchell was an all-district selection as she helped Episcopal win the Division IV, District 3 championship. She had 256 kills while hitting .214 and also tallied 294 digs and 32 blocks.

The Team

Wesley Ann Foreman/Parkview Baptist, Sr.

Earned Division III, District 6 honors as a middle hitter. Hit .301 with 351 kills, 86 blocks and 64 aces.

Sarah ElliotT/Catholic-Pointe Coupee, Sr.

Team captain and libero was the district MVP after compiling 564 digs, 128 assists and 14 aces.

Amber Igiede/St. Michael, Fr.

Part of a youth movement for the Warriors, the middle blocker hit .408 with 132 kills, 36 digs and 39 blocks.

Destiny Ephrom/University High, Sr.

MVP of Division IV, District 3 as a middle hitter. Her season included 205 kills, 68 blocks and 28 digs.

Payton Passantino/St. John, Sr.

First-team Division V, District 3. The outside hitter had 285 kills, a .416 hitting percentage and 130 digs.

Caitlyn Williams/Brusly, Jr.

MVP for Division III, District 5 as a middle blocker. Hit .285 and had 516 kills, 166 digs and 54 blocks.

Michayla Spano/Ascension Catholic, Sr.

A setter who earned all-district honors in Division V, District 3. Had 927 assists and 236 digs.

Masyn Cameron/Episcopal, Sr.

Made the composite LHSAA academic all-state team. Finished with 539 assists, 289 digs and 46 aces.

Amari Bellard/St. Michael, Sr.

A versatile player, she had 361 digs, 172 kills and 76 aces to help St. Michael reach the regionals.

Caroline Safford/The Dunham School, Sr.

Libero who compiled 211 digs, 45 assists and 38 aces as Dunham reached the regionals.

Hannah Fontenot/Parkview Baptist, So.

Tallied 386 digs, 39 assists and 54 aces as Parkview advanced to the state quarterfinals.

Coach of the Year

Renee Green/Catholic-Pointe Coupee

Green guided the Hornets to the state quarterfinals, where they lost to eventual champion McGehee. The quarterfinal berth was Catholic-PC’s fourth in five years as it finished 21-20.
