Mount Alam kuh

Mount Alam kuh is a mountain in northern Iran, which is the second highest mountain in Iran after Damavand Mountain.

This beautiful mountain is considered as a symbol in mountaineering in the country due to its special attractions such as glaciers, majestic north wall, beautiful area of Hesarchal .

Where is Alam kuh

Mount Alam Kuh is located in the western Alborz mountain range and among the peaks of Takht-e Soleiman region. This mountain is located in Mazandaran province and Kelardasht city.

The best way to access the mountain science is through Rudbarak that is a very beautiful village in Kelardasht region, which has always been known as one of the mountaineering centers of the country

The height of Alam Kuh

The height of Alam Kooh peak is 4848 meters. Adjacent to this peak is the fork at a height of 4780 meters. In general, according to the available opinions, 35 to 40 peaks above 4000 meters in Takht-e-Soliman region have been mentioned.

Alam Kuh’s Glaciers

On the western side of central Alborz mountains and in the middle of the granite peaks of Takht-e Soleyman Massif, lie Alam Kuh’s collection of glaciers (4000m). Extending from Taleghan Valley to Abbas Abad and Shahsavar jungles, Takht-e Soleyman Massif is a very cold and snowy region that houses the highest number of +4000m peaks in the country.

With the largest reserve of mountain glaciers in Iran, Takht-e Soleyman includes glaciers like: Sarchal, Alamchal, Takht-e Soleyman, Marji-Kash, Haft Khan, Chaloon, Khersan, Shaneh Kuh and Split Glaciers.

Alam Kuh’s Mountaineering Routes

Since Alam Kuh is connected to the surrounding mountains and includes walls and flanks , there are many routes that make it accessible. The common routes for ascending his peak are:

The Southern Face Route (Hesarchal)- Alam Kuh’s Easiest route

Hesarchal

Hesarchal is the most unchallenging route for climbing Alam Kuh .

To reach Hesarchal trekking route , you should get to Rudbarak and from there make your way toward Vandarbon .

Then Tang-e Galoo and Hesarchal plain will lead you to Alam Kuh from the southern ridge. The trekking route starts from Tang-e Galoo region (3300m) and it usually includes an overnight in Hesarchal plain (3750m).

Ascending through Hesarchal route takes about 6 hours (1.5 hrs to Hesarchal and 4.5 hrs to the summit).

The Northern Face Route (Siah Sang)

This route is considered as one of Iran’s most challenging trekking routes and it often includes an overnight in Sarchal Mountain Hut (3700m). To reachSiah Sang route, you should get to Rudbarak and from there make your way toward Vandarbon.

This northern trekking route starts in Vandarbon, continues to Sarchal Hut, Alamchal and Siah Sang Mountain Pass, and finally reaches the summit from the east. The ascent through Sarchal route takes about 12 hours (Day 1: 6 hrs to Sarchal Hut, Day 2: 6 hrs to the summit).

Siah sangha route

The German Flank Route

This mountaineering route takes less time compared to Siah Sang route, but it requires technical equipment and includes an overnight in Sarchal Hut. To reach the German Flank route, you should get to Rudbarak and from there make your way toward Vandarbon. The trekking route starts from Vandarbon, continues to Sarchal Hut, Alamchal and the German Flank, and finally reaches the summit from the north.

The Northern Big Wall Routes

This popular wall includes many rock climbing routes. To reach the northern big wall, you should get to Rudbarak and from there make your way toward Vandarbon. From Vandarbon, take the trekking route that leads to Sarchal Hut and from there to the big wall. The route you choose based on your style, professionality and physical strength will determine how you reach the summit. The Italian Route, the Polish Route, the French Route, Harry Rost Route, Arash Route and the Hamedani Route are of the popular routes on Alam’s big wall .
