We had one of the most lively fire chats during #CARILEC (CEOs conference). Our colleagues MONICA LUPIAÑEZ and Roberto Herrera, MBE from #InterEnergy shared the floor with Tganni Louisy and myself (Wärtsilä ) Our moderator Roberto Lares Lleras posted very provocative questions for example: "Why after so much effort many countries are stuck in the path to Net Zero?" .... Ah well, to reach NetZero is not about having a Plan to just add renewables but instead is about having a "Decarbonization Plan" ... two very different things. A proper high resolution power system modeling is key to first identify the optimal capacity expansion and then draft the decarbonization plan to achieve the target. Integrating renewable energy with flexible firm capacity which will utilize sustainable fuels when available and energy storage paired with a sophisticated management system lead to a decarbonization path.
