The ducal castle De Riseis-D'Aragona is located in Crecchio in the province of Chieti. It currently houses the Byzantine and early medieval Museum of Abruzzo. The news of the castle are fragmentary, especially on its origin and its arrangements. The only ancient description of the castle found in the archives is that of 1633 by Scipione Paternò. However it can be said that the castle developed from a pre-existing tower called "dell'Ulivo" in thirteenth-century style and subsequently of transformations over the centuries, transformations that took place starting from the fifteenth century. The castle thus changed its form from a defensive structure to a residential architecture. The additions were divided into two stages, the first of which includes the construction of the southern loggia and the western building, while the second includes the upper loggia and the main floor of the adjacent building. The addition of an upper level in the buildings eliminated the pre-existing battlements. The fourth tower was destroyed in 1881 by an earthquake and was rebuilt in 1904. The Priamar Fortress of Savona is an imposing military complex that dominates the city center at the port. Built between 1542 and 1544 by the Genoese as part of the interventions aimed at the definitive subjugation of the city of Savona by the "Superba", and enlarged several times, it takes its name from the hill immediately overlooking the sea on which it stands, where the the first settlements date back to the Bronze Age. According to some scholars, the denomination could derive from pria a' mà (stone on the sea in the Ligurian language), or from pria mala (bad stone, ie friable). This is the most important fortification in all of Western Liguria which currently has a very articulated and complex form due to the many different historical phases of construction and expansion.
