The Best Of The English Countryside

The English countryside is a place full of green fields, hedged roads, rustic stone walls, tall mountain peaks far off in the distance, and lots and lots of cows. It’s the place you can get a proper breath of fresh air (as long as you don’t mind the smell…), and it’s a great place to finally snap the perfect Instagram shot that looks like it came straight out of a fairytale.
And now that the summer is here, this is the perfect time for you to start planning your next trip away. If you’re someone who likes to frequent back roads (a.k.a the scenic route) and dense forests, all in the name of having a good holiday or a road trip to remember, then this is the next idea for you. Head to the English countryside, hopefully with these tips in mind!

Try Out the South

You don’t have to go as far as the coast, of course, but if you’re heading to the south anytime soon, make sure you try out the quality of the countryside there. There’s plenty of holiday lodges in the Cotswolds available at this time of year, and there’s nothing like waking up in a national park district with the sun rising over the hills; it’s very relaxing, and you’re going to want to spend every moment in the outdoors.

The South has a lot of nearby amenities for you to check out as well; there’s plenty of sea next door, and there’s a lot more native bird species for people to spot and photograph. You’re going to meet a lot of fun and interesting people in the West country as well; the tone of conversation might just leave you with a quick laugh from time to time!

Try a Road Trip Through It

If you’re someone who likes to be on the road a lot, there’s plenty of great drives to go on throughout the countryside, no matter where you are in the country. Most of these drives can be done in a few hours as well, so you’ll be at the pub in time for dinner if you want to stop off somewhere (unless you want to cover the entirety of the country!).

You can find a list of some editor’s picks of the best drives you could try out here, or you could simply go exploring and choose your own way. As long as you’ve got a map to mark as you go, or a Sat Nav with a good connection to show you the way back to your hotel or campsite, this could be a lot of fun for any friends or family that came along with you.

The best of the English Countryside is out there for you to explore, so make sure you take the time to explore the dense environment around you. Leave the taste of city life behind and give the slower pace of life a chance!
