Hiking Highlight
Nikkaluokta is a small, mostly Sami village near Kiruna. It lives especially from tourism. You will find restaurants and various accommodation options here. The small wooden church just outside is particularly worth seeing. The location is also known as the starting point of the annual Fjällräven Classic Sweden and many hikers who walk part of the northern Kungsleden start or end here.
You can reach Nikkaluokta by bus, which runs twice a day between the town and Kiruna. The bus ride takes about an hour.

Nikkaluokta is one of the favorite entry points for the Kungsleden. When going from Nikkaluokta to Kebnekaise mountain station, you have 19 km of beautiful hiking ahead of you. The first 5 km to Lake Láddjujávri consist of easy hiking through birch forest.

This was the starting point of my Fjallaven classic and a great place to prepare for a hike in the area such as the Kungsleden or the Kebnekaise. There are not a lot of shops etc. you can better arrange this in Kiruna.
