Demi Lovato Is Engaged to Jordan Lutes After One Year of Dating

Congratulations are in order for Demi Lovato and her new fiancé Jordan Lutes! 

The couple, who have been dating for a little over a year, got engaged on Saturday in Los Angeles — a rep for the singer confirmed exclusively to People. Per the publication, Lutes asked Lovato to marry him during a "personal and intimate proposal" and popped the question with a gorgeous pear-shaped solitaire diamond ring from the New York-based jewelry boutique Material Good (you can see photos here).

Afterwards, the two headed to Craig's in West Hollywood to celebrate with their families. 

Lovato and Lutes first met back in January 2022 when they co-wrote her song "Substance," but they didn't become romantically involved until August of that same year. 

This year, Demi revealed that they started off as "friends first and foremost" during an appearance on SiriusXM's The Morning Mash Up. "We became friends first," she explained. "We were friends for several months and then we decided to start dating and well, after we told each other how we felt." Demi added, "Yeah, I'm super happy, and he's my best friend."

Jordan also publicly gushed about his romance with the singer while wishing her happy birthday in August. “Happy Birthday to my best friend. You’re obvs the most beautiful and talented person to ever do it,” he captioned a slideshow of sweet photos and videos of the couple on Instagram. “But more importantly you’re weird af and u make me cry laughing. Your heart has changed lives all over the planet… Especially some dude from a farm in canada who wound up in your session over a year ago." 

He continued, "I didn’t know the perfect person existed until I met u. But now that I do, I’m gunna spend the rest of my life protecting u and doing whatever I can to squeeze another smile n belly laugh outta u. I couldn’t be more proud to call u my baby. Hope u have the best bday ever 🖤😘 I love u.”
