The Aardvark at the Bronx Zoo is found in the Carter Giraffe Building. It lives in a feather small enclosure found in a dark room (due to the Aardvark being a nocturnal animal), between the Girrafe enclosure and the exit of the building.

Physical/Physiological/Mental Adaptations 2

The Aardvark has several adaptations to help it thrive in its enviroment . One example of sn adaptation that the Aardvark has is a sharp and long claws to crack open termite nests, and easily suck out insects with its lo flexible muzzle. Aardvarks also have a tail that can grow up to 60 centimeters, often used as self defence mechsnism. Aatdvatks are an endangered species, and they are the only living animal in the order Tubulidentata.

Threats 2

Although no one is actually sure about whether the Aardvark population is declining or rising, the Aardvark is listed as Least Concern in the IUCN Red List. however, the rising population in both Eastern and Western Africa is slowly taking away Aardvark habitats. Some other predators (aside from humans), are Lions, Hyenas, and the Leopard.

Location / Geography 2

In the wild, the Aardvark is found in Sub-Saharan Africa, in dry woodlands, or savanaas. In some rare cases, Aardvarks are found in rainforests. Their paws are specialized for them to walk on dirt and small rocks.
