Wyll Romance Guide
Before you can get a chance with Wyll for a romance scene, you’ll need to make some progress in Baldur’s Gate 3. Also, it’s extremely important to try and make your decisions with his approval in mind. There are many times throughout the story and moments back at the campsite with Wyll that can influence his opinion of you. If you have a negative relationship with him, he won’t have any interest in you when it matters.
Wyll Approval and Disapproval Guide
Approval in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the most important aspect when it comes to romancing a character. No matter which character you may be aiming for, making sure their approval of you is high should always be step one.
Wyll, like all characters has a distinct personality and things he approves of and inversely things he dislikes, so long as you're able to maintain a consistent personality that can appeal to Wyll's traits, gaining approval with him should be simple.
Wyll, next to Gale, is arguably your most heroic companion. Wyll feels like more a classic protagonist, with strong heroic beliefs while also denouncing evil and fighting for what he thinks is right. Wyll is also bound by a pact, so respecting this is also a good way to gain favor with him.
With that said, here's a list of things Wyll approves and disapproves of.
Wyll Approval List
- General acts of heroism
- Helping those in need
- Fighting against oppressors
- Reinforcing his beliefs
- Showing ruthlessness towards goblins and devils
Wyll Disapproval List
- Lying to him
- Being self-indulgent and entitled
- Showing pro-goblin and devil sentiment
- Unnecessary acts of cruelty
- Siding with Mizora
While Wyll is one of the more heroic companions, he's not without his faults. His story can be very different, depending on how you choose to resolve the situation with Karlach. However, gaining approval with him can be simple by just being the best person you can be.
How to Romance Wyll in Act 1
After completing Rescuing the Druid Halsin and the side quest Save the Refugees, this will lead to a celebration at your campsite upon ending the day with a long rest.
Approach Wyll and he'll have a more somber tone compared to the rest of your party. Select either of the first two options and then select any of the first three options. After he tells you about how he used to be an excellent dancer, select the following option:
- "I want to dance with you" or "Can't you tell why I really followed you out here?"
Both of these will lead to a persuasion check where you can ask Wyll for a kiss. If you succeed, Wyll will resign himself and share a kiss with you. But don't worry if you fail, because he'll still end the dialogue with "There will be another time for us". Which will put you on the right track for your romance.
How to Romance Wyll in Act 2
During the night after a rest, you'll find Wyll dancing in camp. Select the following options after watching him dance:
- "Nice form. Where'd you learn to dance like that?" or Stay quiet, and watch Wyll dance
- "A new partner? And who might that be" or "Trust me. I don't think you could fail anyone if you tried"
- Smile and bow
Next you'll be asked to make a skill check. Pick whichever one you're most comfortable with, or whichever one you'd think you'd like to see. The outcome of the check doesn't matter, so long as you don't select the option where you stand still.
If you succeed, select:
- Take a bow or Smile nervously
If you fail, select:
- "You're a beautiful dancer. I'm sure you'll teach me in no time" or Smile in embarrassment
Wyll will then invite you to a more intimate dance. When you're given the option, select the following options:
- Press your lips against Wyll's or Invite him closer with a knowing look - it's what you both want
- "I was hoping we might spend the night... together" or Move in for another kiss
If you invite him for the night, he'll turn you down, telling you he still believes in the traditional way, hinting that he's waiting for a bigger occasion to spend with you before the time is right, which will let you move into your Act 3 romance with Wyll.
How to Romance Wyll in Act 3
After the situation with Duke Ravengard is settled, whether you rescued him or not, you'll learn the Tale of Ansur who lives beneath Baldur's Gate. Once you learn of this tale, Wyll will have an exclamation over his head in camp the next time you rest. Speak to him to immediately trigger a scene where he will start by reflecting on his past, only figuring out now who the true enemy is. You can select any of the options for the first prompt, and then select the following option:
- Smile and take Wyll's hand or "All right. But this better be worth it"
Wyll will then take you away to the Wilden Oak, and tell you a story about himself. Select the following options:
- Enjoy the view. Enjoy Wyll's quiet company
Wyll will then get on one knee and propose to you- using an acorn from the Wilden Oak, which is believed to have wishing powers. Select the following options:
- "Yes, yes yes!" or Take the acorn and nod'
- Join Wyll in the grass. Give yourself to him completely or "It's about time. Let's see what the Blade can do with his weapon"
Finally, you two will share a much-earned night together, following Wyll's romantic proposal. Now all that's left to do is see the ending with Wyll!
