Robert Pattinson first came to our attention while cutting his teeth (pun intended) in Hollywood as tortured teen vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga. And while he might have started out in tween heartthrob territory, he's since managed to follow in Daniel Radcliffe's footsteps and establish himself as part of Britain's new wave of leading men. Having clocked up roles in the adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's Bel Ami, Allen Coulter's Remember Me and David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis, he's taken on his biggest role yet as the leading hero in Matt Reeves' The Batman.

When he's not in front of the cameras, Pattinson is a great example of sticking to one of our golden style rules for men in their thirties: not being afraid to experiment with trends. Whether this is donning head-to-toe Dior by Kim Jones or sporting an air tie at the 56th New York Film Festival, Pattinson has become one of the best-dressed men in the world.

“Go big or go home” is the mantra we should all be taking when it comes to dressing. Wearing head-to-toe Dior is also a good idea.

The Batman Miami Fan Screening, 2022

Alexander Tamargo

On The Batman press tour Pattinson proved that the male co-star (here alongside Zoë Kravitz) doesn't need to be a total snooze-fest in the fashion department. Here his checked suit cuts a fine line between smart and casual and its loose, unstructured shape gives it a playful edge.

For The Batman press junket in London, Pattinson slipped into an excellent coat that is deserving of a place in the dark knight's wardrobe.

Los Angeles, February 2022

Hollywood To You/Star Max

Back in 2020 R-Patz told us that he'd been buying any Palace Skateboards x Adidas sneaks he came across on StockX, Depop and Ebay, explaining “a fresh pair of them only comes up every eight months or so. I had a pair of them stolen off me once, but I saw them on Ebay and I know I bought them back off the thief.”

Here reps a pair of the coveted Pro Blacks.

The Dior Fall/Winter 2020 show

Francois Durand

R-Patz did away with the law that pinstripes belong only behind desks when he wore a pair of finely lined slacks with a supple leather jacket and Dior x Air Jordan kicks.

The High Life premiere

Che Rosales

In what at first looks like a mismatched suit, it's the under-layers that give Pattinson's game away and reveal that, in fact, he is wearing a tracksuit with a suit jacket over the top.

The 56th New York Film Festival

Jim Spellman

Not only was Pattinson donning an air tie well before any of his peers started doing it (that's you Ryan Gosling and Rami Malek), but the British actor has also educated everyone on how to do the grown-up school uniform.

The 72nd Annual Cannes Film Festival

David M. Benett

Attending the Vanity Fair and Chopard party at Cannes, Pattinson wore this year's “it” shirt, courtesy of Kim Jones at Dior.

Paris Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 2020

Jacopo Raule

Attending Kim Jones' Spring/Summer 2020 outing for Dior, Pattinson was the perfect poster boy for the new era of the esteemed fashion house. The key styling move to take away from him here? An untucked shirt needn't look untidy (just ensure said shirt is well steamed).

The Amfar Gala, Los Angeles 2018

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin

Before the likes of Troye Sivan and Cody Fern started doing it, Pattinson was chest flashing. Sporting a sheer shirt to the Amfar Gala, he gave his adorning fans exactly what they wanted.

Paris Fashion Week, Autumn/Winter 2019

Pascal Le Segretain

Whether or not he chose to channel Luke Skywalker is anyone’s guess, but there’s no denying he looked good doing it.

HFPA & Participant Media Honour Help Refugees

George Pimentel

In case you hadn't noticed, the double-breasted suit has come full circle and is now lauded as a must-have for men. R-Patz knows this, so it's about time you invested in one too. The easiest way to wear one? Sans tie.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association and Hollywood Reporter party

Matt Winkelmeyer

Wearing a Kim Jones for Dior creation, Pattinson was a shining example of how to do #menswear in 2019 when he attend The Hollywood Foreign Press Association party.

Damsel premiere

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin

Here Pattinson proves he's a jack-of-all-trades, donning a bigger-is-better suit à la Jeff Goldblum in the 1990s.

The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences' Eleventh Annual Governors Awards

Steve Granitz

Pattinson channels Batman and wears all-black-everything Dior, literally. From the shirt to his bow tie, everything was the superhero's favourite colour.

66th San Sebastian International Film Festival, 2018

Carlos Alvarez

Sticking to his grunge aesthetic, R-Patz demonstrated the easiest way to pull off a pair of this season’s must-have stomper boots: keep everything else to a monochrome minimum.

And an appreciation for his trainer game…

Gotham

Speaking to GQ last year, Dior frontman Pattinson expressed his appreciation for Adidas x Palace Skateboards trainers: “A fresh pair of them only comes up every eight months or so. I had a pair of them stolen off me once, but I saw them on Ebay and I know I bought them back off the thief. I have alerts on when they’re being sold; I’ll soon own every pair in existence.”
