Jessica Alba proves that straight, sleek hairstyles are back on-trend. We adore this sharp, chic style on the American beauty.

Our celebrity hair expert Mark Woolley, Founder of Electric Hairdressing London, is here to help you get the look at home. Mark told us: "I love this look on Jessica - the hair is sharp but still remains feminine. By sweeping the lengths from the crown over one side of the face, she adds fullness to the hair where it would otherwise look thin and wispy due to the shorter layers. Poker straight hair is more prone to looking flat and heavy so sweeping hair to one side gives the illusion of beautifully thick hair."

Follow Mark's steps to success:

STEP ONE To get the hair as perfectly glossy as Jessica's, ensure you prep the lengths with a lightweight product like the Electric Smoothing Cream (£17) whilst the hair is still damp. Using a light cream as opposed to a heavy gel prevents the hair from crossing the line between shiny and greasy and it also allows for natural movement.

STEP TWO Blow dry the hair using a barrel brush to smooth out the lengths. Hold the hair taut whilst you blow dry downwards to prevent any kinks. Whilst doing so, start to shape the hair by bringing the lengths from the back of the crown to one side of the head and layer the shorter sections of hair over one side of the face in a sweeping motion.

STEP THREE Once the hair is completely dry and you have your basic shape, polish it up by running a pair of straightening irons over the lengths to keep the hair razor sharp like Jessica's. The Denman TitaniumPro Styling Tool eases through the hair without damaging it and gives a straight and glossy finish without much effort.

STEP FOUR To ensure the hair stays in place, spray some L'Oreal Professional Air Fix (£9.10) all over but focus on the side-swept section which could end up slipping and falling in front of the face if it isn't given a helping hand!
