In one bank, the gang takes a hostage and one of the thieves, Doug MacRay, winds up falling for her. Since she is from the same neighborhood as the gang, the leader of the gang, Jem, worries that the woman will recognize them later. MacRay meets and tests her some time later and winds up starting a relationship. When the lead character falls for the hostage, it starts to break up the gang, and the police start closing in. The cast of "The Town" includes Ben Affleck, Rebecca Hall, Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner, and Blake Lively. This two-disc set has both the extended theatrical release and a digital copy of the movie. As real as it gets
Ben Affleck stars at Doug MacRay, a local boy who almost made it in the big time as a Professional Hockey player but now is back home with his neighborhood pals doing what they know best, planning heists and bank jobs. The trick is to not end up like his father who is serving a life sentence for a botched job. After a bank job, he gets to know Claire, one of the managers at the bank and the two hit it off. Only problem is the Boston PD and FBI are watching. This was a very good movie. It was entertaining and keeps your attention through most of the show. Affleck, who also directed the movie, gives one of his best performances and the rest of the cast do a good job as well. The Cast Includes: Ben Affleck as Doug MacRay, Jon Hamm as Special Agent Adam Frawley, Rebecca Hall as Claire ... The son of a tough Charlestown, MA thief, Doug passed on his chance to walk the straight and narrow in favor of becoming a career bank robber. Not only is Doug's crew one of the most ruthless in Boston, but they're also one of the best; they never leave a trace of evidence, and always make a clean break. Review from a former Townie
During this era in Charles town the Sachem bridge was not built, but shown in the movie. Ben should have retrieved historical footage without the Zach em but with the previous roadway. Otherwise the movie was very good. Worth the money and a movie that you can watch numerous times. It is an accurate portrayal of Charles town during that time in history. As well, during the movie, the FBI actor mentioned the armored car robbery in Nashua. That robbery was NOT in Nashua, but in Hudson, NH ony 1 mile from where I worked. The FBI and local police consistently checked the parking lot of BAE Systems, also in Hudson for the armored car and/or the switch vehicle. Neither was there. Upon hearing about the robbery I left work and cruised the area looking for whatever I could see. I had ... During this era in Charles town the Sachem bridge was not built, but shown in the movie. Upon hearing about the robbery I left work and cruised the area looking for whatever I could see. I had several police scanners in my vehicle and was listening to the whole thing as the search continued. Later it was discovered that the switch vehicle was a Yellow box truck. For the next 10 hours NH Police stopped every yellow truck they came across. Especially the Londonderry Police Department in Londonderry, NH, where I lived at the time. Did they actually think that that truck would still be cruising the NH area 8-10 hours after committing such a crime? LPD is known to be an over ally aggressive police department. The truck was later found in Revere, Massachusetts, only 4-5 miles from Charles town, burned. Another thing that was quite inaccurate in the movie was Doug's description of FBI and Boston Police departments radio antennas on their undercover vehicles. In reality Police are not stupid enough to perform surveillances with ANY other than the regular AM/FM antenna on the vehicle. They use a matching device which allows that AM/FM antenna to serve their two way radio needs. There are NO additional antennas on an FBI surveillance vehicle. As well they drive vehicles just like you or I. You would nervr know one if you saw it. In addition, during the Hudson (not Nashua) armored car theft and kidnapping of the guards, a law enforcement aircraft was used. However the armored car was not spotted because it was stashed in the woods off Pelham Rd., in Pelham, NH where the guards were murdered. This location is about 4-5 miles from the Bank where the whole thing happened. The movie was great and I bought the DVD. Growing up in Charlestown my parents were smart enough to move the family out to the subburbs and I never got involved in crime. Charlestown is still known for a place where oxicontin can be obtained quite quickly but there also many other places in that area where drugs are trafficked. The people of Charles town are, for the most part hard working blue collar decent honest people as the movie describes them at it's end. BA

Never more fun to be a criminal
This movie has heart. Director Ben Affleck lives and breathes the city of Boston, and this movie shows it. The acting is top-notch. The cinematography is perfect for the nitty-gritty, bank robbery filled story of Charlestown. Everything about this movie is perfectly crafted together into a true masterpiece. Fans of the movie Heat, Scorcesse movies, and anything with swears, guns, and crime will love everything about this.This movie has heart. Director Ben Affleck lives and breathes the city of Boston, and this movie shows it. The acting is top-notch. The cinematography is perfect for the nitty-gritty, bank robbery filled story of Charlestown. Everything about this movie is perfectly crafted together into a true masterpiece.
