Mysterious mummified alien remains dating back around 150 years have been found in a Belgian zoo.

Pictures of the strange creature first seen in 2011 have resurfaced this week, showing what can only be described as half-monkey half-alien. And it has been dubbed “Mojo Jojo” by baffled Reddit users after the infamous cartoon character with an elongated head . . . another feature of the mystery alien creature.

The strange creature, with bizarre rotting bones and very long fingers, sits behind a glass cabinet with a sign in front of it claiming that it is a “non-identifiable” creature. The sign states: “This species (is) preserved in the brine mummified after evaporation.”

It claims to have been found in Dresden, Germany in 1875 as part of a collection belonging to a “Palmer-Hudson”. The image was posted on Reddit, with users quickly identifying it as being part of the Cabinet of Curiosities exhibition at the Pairi Daiza Zoo in Belgium.

Nobody quite knowns if the beast is real of fake, as the zoo doesn't clarify, yet it admits that some of the items in that area could be real.

It states: “As a little taste of what you can expect our collection includes a cursed doll from Victorian England (it is impossible to take the same photograph of the doll twice, in short, exorcism in all its glory), a lamb foetus with eight legs, Egyptian falcon and cat mummies, a real meteorite discovered in Argentina during the 19th century and the cutlery of cannibals from the Fiji Islands.”

That didn't stop Reddit users having fun with it, with many likening it to Mojo Jojo from the Powerpuff Girls cartoon, or the real Abominable Snowman – just far smaller – and many called for it to have a DNA test.

One user stated that the museum is full of “man made” creatures, while another claimed that the person named on the plaque was known for going to ancient Mayan regions to look for artefacts.

There is no direct information from the zoo about the creature, however the Daily Star has reached out to the management for a comment.
