Jessica Watson, 29, has welcomed her second baby niece into the world this week.

After suffering the loss of her beloved partner Cameron Dale, the sailing legend was overjoyed with the new addition to her family.

She uploaded an adorable photo to her Instagram account which showed the immense pride on her face along with Watson's sister Hannah and newborn Thea.

The happy moment contrasted the immense pain that she has suffered in the past year. 

It's been a tough road for Watson to tread since Dale succumbed to his stroke from undiagnosed high blood pressure last year, six weeks after the medical emergency.

 'After his death I was cocooned in shock,' she told The Australian earlier this month. 

'It took months to fully comprehend what had happened...for the pain, already raging, raw and jagged, to become unbearable.'

'I'd been going around saying things like...it's better to have loved and lost than not loved at all...but I was kidding myself and wasn't prepared for how bad it could get.'

After Dale passed away, Watson raised her voice to convince young people to keep an eye on their blood pressure levels.

At the tender age age 16, Watson sailed around the world on a solo voyage in 2010.

Since her epic achievement, the young sporting star has gone on to become an author, motivational speaker and businesswoman.
