Description
Condition: This is a great playing, great sounding Explorer. There are various nicks, dings, dents and chips throughout the instrument all of which are plainly visible when holding the guitar. There is a round sticker ghost on the lower bass side wing, some heavy pick scratches on the body and pickguard, a heavier scratch near the control knobs and some heavy buckle rash throughout the back. There are some large dings along the bottom edge and a few tiny areas around the control cavity in which the lacquer partially melted likely when the electronics were modified. These marks look no different than the other nicks and dings and are hidden beneath the control cavity cover. There has been some solder work done and the guitar is currently equipped with EMG humbuckers in the neck and bridge. Fingerboard and frets have moderate play wear with heavier play wear in the lower registers. The neck is very straight overall. The truss rod functions fine. The base of the Tune-O-Matic bridge on the bass side had come loose creating a chip in the wood. We were able to re-glue the wood and the bridge post stays in place perfectly. All electronics and parts are in perfect working condition.
Body: Solid “Explorer” shaped body in black finish. Stop-Bar Tailpiece, Tune-O-Matic bridge, speed control knobs and a single-ply black pickguard.
Neck: Mahogany neck with Ebony fingerboard, pearloid moon and star inlay at the 12th fret and white side dot markers. 1 11/16” nut. Grover tuners, 24 ¾” scale length. The back of the headstock features a portrait decal (see photos).
Pickups/Electronics: Active EMG-81 JJ humbucker in the neck and an EMG-81 JA humbucker in the bridge. Controls include dual volume, master tone and a 3-way selector switch.

Playability/Sound: The pickups on this guitar give it a sound every bit as intense as its looks. The EMG humbuckers provide tons of output and sustain. The neck is exceptionally comfortable and suitable for any playing style.
