Bosse basketball coach Shane Burkhart earns 200th career victory; adds another on Saturday

EVANSVILLE -- Shane Burkhart reached another coaching milestone.

The Bosse High School boys' basketball coach recorded his 200th career victory after a 76-60 win over Harrison on Friday night. Following an afternoon win at Sullivan, Burkhart is 201-102 across 12 seasons at the South Side high school.

The victory over the Warriors improved the Bulldogs to 5-1 in the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference. It sets up a winner-take-all for the regular season championship this upcoming Friday against Reitz. Bosse had five players in double-figure scoring against Harrison: Kiyron Powell (14), Ty'Ran Funches (14), Matt Wagner (13), Julian Norris (12) and Xavier Burton (12).

Burkhart is the fourth active coach in the SIAC to reach 200 career wins, joining Michael Adams at Reitz, Rick Wilgus at Memorial and Brian Gibson at Castle. The Bosse coach has won six sectional championships and advanced to the Class 3A state championship game twice during his career.

Victory number 201 came on Saturday in a 74-61 triumph over Sullivan. Funches led the Bulldogs (15-6) with 24 points, while Norris added 20.
