Lars Lerin

Lars Lerin is considered one, if not the foremost of Scandinavia’s leading watercolorists. Somber depictions of desolate rural settings, scorching desert towns, taxidermy birds in tidy rows, carefully shielded behind the transparent glass of the display cases or burgeoning sunflower fields in bright yellows. No matter the content, his characteristic technical brilliance and poetical sensibility are always present.

Lars Lerin was born 1954 in Munkfors, Sweden. Works and lives in Karlstad, Sweden. Lerin received his artistic training at Valands konsthögskola (1984) and at Gerlesborgsskolan (1975). He has had several separate and group exhibitions in art museums and institutions in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Germany, Norway and the United States. Lars Lerin is represented in several public art collections such as Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Malmö Konstmuseum and County Councils and Municipalities in Sweden and Norway.
