Jessica Watson shows True Spirit at Queensland Maritime Museum
In conjunction with the Netflix World Launch of the movie TRUE SPIRIT about Jessica Watson’s 2010 Solo sailing voyage around the world, the Queensland Maritime Museum was pleased to be involved with marketing and publicity sessions conducted, on and around Ella’s Pink Lady.
The celebrities and the support party were met by the QMM Chair Capt. Kasper Kuiper who then accompanied Jessica and actress Teagan Croft to Jessica’s famous yacht Ella’s Pink Lady, which is positioned beside the South Brisbane Dry Dock.
At the conclusion of these sessions, Jessica made time to say Hello to volunteers and sponsors Mike Blair Sales Manager, Power Equipment- Yanmar Marine Engines and Graham Eaton AME Gold Coast City Marina who assisted with recent refurbishments to Ella’s Pink Lady.
In appreciation of her visit, Capt. Kuiper presented a, unique to QMM, Seaman’s Bag, designed and hand crafted by Hon. Life Member Jack Hamilton [Sail Maker]. A variety of Jack’s hand- crafted bags are available in the Museum Shop and online.
The World Launch of film True Spirit took place at the Brisbane POWERHOUSE, New Farm that evening on Tuesday 17th January. The movie will be released by Netflix on 3rd February 2023.
When you visit the Museum and Ella’s Pink Lady you can also experience a mockup cabin of the yacht, constructed by the QMM volunteers. This is positioned beside Ella’s Pink Lady so you can experience cabin surroundings without boarding the yacht.
