After a reassessment on 24 May 2022, the Professor of Natural Disaster Management, Mr Efthymios Lekkas, said that due to geodynamic phenomena, a large part of the structure is damaged. This makes it impossible for the municipality of Lefkada to reopen it to the public.

Beach description
On the south-western coast of the island, about 17 km from Vasiliki, is the secluded beach of Egremni, a beautiful long beach with silky white sand and crystal clear Caribbean blue water. The colours, the water and the landscape are not reminiscent of Greece. It is a painting from the wildest dreams of the Caribbean.
The scene is also impressive at sunset, when the majestic rocks glow red.
On Egremni Beach there is an organised section with sun loungers. To the left, there is a part for those who want their peace and the feeling that they are far away from the noisy everyday life. Just them, the sea and the sun.
Egremin is ideal for sunbathing, reading a book, swimming or snorkelling.

Access by land
Shortly after the village of Athani, just after the Avra taverna, a narrow, steeply sloping road leads to the beach on the right. The road, destroyed by an earthquake in 2015, was rebuilt by the end of 2020. The old parking spaces at the end of the street can no longer be used. Cars are now parked 1-1.5 km from the stairs leading to the coast. Since everyone parks as they like, dangerous situations arise. After the approximately 15-minute walk to the stairs, a decent descent begins via the approximately 420 stairs. After the old staircase was destroyed in 2015, a new metal staircase now stands in its place.
To master the 10-minute descent down the stairs, it's good to have sturdy shoes with you. Don't forget water and sunscreen either. If you don't want to hire a sun lounger, you will also need a parasol. The limestone rocks reflect the heat very well.
Think about the way back! The 420 stairs are quite demanding. So take enough time for it, because you’ll probably have to take a few breaks. Just enjoy the scenery.
Access by boat
Boat trips to Egremni depart from the port of Vasiliki in the morning hours. There are also some that depart from the port in Nidri. The Agiofili taxi boat, NIDRI STAR II and an Express Cruise with the Ionian Princess depart from the Vasiliki port. The pleasant ride there takes 50 minutes. One also stops at Porto Katsiki.
