Hi everybody!

This year I will be hiking Padjelantaleden (Padjelanta Trail)

I know it has been VERY slow on my site for a long time, but at least I have some exciting news 🙂

This year, in August I will be hiking Padjelanta Leden, which is the “little brother” to Kungelsden (Kings Way)
I haven’t really been able to afford any hikes for a long time, and as I am saving up for the Continental Divide Trail next year I can barely afford this hike even though it is fairly inexpensive.

BUT I need to get out hiking, so I will figure it out 🙂

I haven’t really felt the urge to blog as much as I did when I was planning my PCT thru-hike back in 2017 and to be honest I still am not really psyched about going next year. There is some stuff going on right now and since I got fired that just takes up too much of my mind (old boss is an idiot and totally mental which is why we are 9 people suing him, but he keeps coming up with “new evidence” that he throws at us).

Anyways fuck him, that’s not something I want to waste website space on 🙂

LET’S TALK ABOUT HIKING !!!

Ealier this year a friend of mine contacted me and asked if we should go for a hike this summer, and suggested a trip to Sweden to hike “Bohusleden”, but before I really got a chance to look into details about it, he changed his mind and really wanted to do Padjelantaleden (Padjelanta Trail) instead.

And when he told me where it was (I didn’t know about it before) I knew that it would make an awesome trip.

Padjelanta trail is “close” to Kungsleden (Kings Way), just a tad to the west and its a shorter trip as well coming in at 137 Km (85 miles) so we will be able to complete it and be back home in just under a week (its a 25 hour train/bus ride each way).

I hiked Kungsleden (Kings Way) back in 2019 so I know how beautiful the area is which is why I said yes, even though it might be “the same” scenery as Kungsleden (Kings Way)

But just the idea of getting on a trail is relighting a small fire inside me so I know that its the right move 🙂

Padjelantaleden (Padjelanta trail)

Padjelantaleden is alocated in Lappland, in northern Sweden. It is about 137 km (85 miels) long and leads from Ritsem through Padjelanta National Park to Kvikkjokk (which is also the halfway point on Kungsleden- or just about). The hike takes about 5–7 days.
There is very little elevation gain, so it is supposed to be suitable for beginners as well (just like Kungsleden), provided you have some experience with outdoor camping or hiking.

We won’t be staying in any of the cabins along the way unless the weather is absolutely terrible, but it looks like August is fine month to hike the trail, unless you want to do it in the Spring or late summer (which seems to have less precipitation)

I will post an update when we get a little bit closer. with my setup for the trip.
It will probably not be a lot of new stuff, but considering that it will take about 4-5 days of hiking I am thinking about bringing all the food I need, just to be absolutely sure that corona doesn’t ruin anything by shutting down shops or whatever 🙂

Anyways, that’s all I got for now. but stay tuned! and as always if you have any experience with Padjelantaleden (Padjelanta trail) feel free to leave a comment!
