No More Awesome Face/Epic Smiley posts
I know I have nearly 60 followers now, and I haven't showcased my work much outside of the Awesome Face modifications I do, to date based almost entirely on DC characters.
It's my regret to inform my new fans that this must come to and end. They say sticks and stones, but is that really true? And even if it is, does that mean memes based on fictional characters couldn't hurt someone?
The above art is not my own, but it really speaks to the power over people and other beings this image(and my manipulations of it) can have on the innocent. I hope you'll understand.
I thought of an innocent Easter Bunny being subjected to a random artist on the internet depicting him in that manner somehow. I realized that animals have no choice, humans included. Who am I to impose offense on them by continuing a cruel, needless trend against them?
Sorry, followers. It's been grand, but I cannot justify harming the egos of sentient beings with a years-old image as my poison-tipped sword, thrust callously into their hearts.
The show must NOT go on. :(
Coincidentally, I too have today been struggling with my comic book idea, fretting at the moral questions around the strange sort of idolatry that has gone into the characters I’ve designed.
As such, I’ve decided to replace all the drawings of my main characters with images of jellies, jams, and nut based spreads instead. I think it’s the right thing to do.
Who knows, maybe I’ll reconsider when I wake tomorrow, April 2nd...
Definitely an idea worth considering. You could just draw a slice of milk toast as the front cover to your next comic issue to make sure nobody is squished due to their all-too-crucial fragility!
