James Franco surprises fans at screening of his new film

James Franco surprised moviegoers at a screening of his new film, “The Disaster Artist,” at the ArcLight movie theatre in Hollywood on Sunday night.

Franco showed up sporting black jeans and a black bomber, and a spy told us, “He said, ‘I hope you enjoy it. It was a family affair. My brother [Dave Franco], my sister-in-law [Alison Brie], Seth Rogen, Zac Efron, Ari Graynor’ . . . He was joking around before taking his seat to watch the film.”

Franco directed and stars in the indie film that’s been a hit at the box office so far in 19 theaters with a $1.2 million opening weekend. The film follows the making of the 2003 cult movie “The Room,” dubbed by some cinephiles in some circles as the worst movie ever made.
