Amber Tamblyn doesn’t want to be held accountable for David Cross’ actions

Amber Tamblyn wasn’t happy to be dragged into husband David Cross‘ Twitter conflict with actress and writer Charlyne Yi.

On Sunday, Yi, 31, accused Cross of directing racist comments toward her — including the phrase “Ching-chong-ching-chong” — when they first met in 2011 through her then-boyfriend, Michael Cera. Cross insisted he had no recollection of the alleged incident.

Yi’s account of the meeting led many Twitter users to flood Tamblyn’s account with demands for an apology or explanation on behalf of her husband.

“I spoke to @charlyne_yi and her feelings/safety are all that matter to me,” Tamblyn, 34, tweeted Thursday night. “We’re good. I owe you nothing, Twitter. You’re lucky to have me.”

Despite her response, users continued to press Tamblyn on the issue. She replied to another user, “I’ll say it again. I spoke to Charlyne. I believe her. I’m about HER feelings/emotional health right now, not Twitter’s. That okay with you?”

“I will say this for the last time. Do not hold women accountable for the actions, decisions or words of their partners. Don’t. Do it,” she concluded.

The day before her tweets, Cross, 53, addressed Yi’s accusations Wednesday in a statement he titled “A Fruitless Endeavor Part 2,” in which he claimed to have never known he’d offended Yi at the time — and that the only time he’s ever used the phrase “ching chong, ching chong” was in the guise of “an a—hole redneck character.”

“I had NO IDEA she was upset or I would’ve apologized to both her and Michael,” he wrote.

But while Tamblyn might be done talking about her husband’s behavior on Twitter, it seems that the two still have some issues to work out offline.

A spy tells Page Six that the couple, along with a male friend, was spotted at Clinton Hill bar Hartley’s on Thursday night talking about the controversy.

The lengthy yet calm conversation did feature a very confident Cross deploying the idea that there are two sides to every story.
