Green Day Joins the Pop-Punk Comeback

Green Day releases their newest single and prepares for a new album release along with their upcoming tour: The Saviors Tour.

Over the past few years, pop punk artists have given us new music and made us feel nostalgic about the music we listened to when we were younger. Along with Paramore and Fall Out Boy, Green Day has decided to add new music to the mix this year. On October 24, they released their single, The American Dream Is Killing Me. Along with the release of the song, they have also announced pre-sale dates for their tour of new album Saviors, which is set to release on January 19, 2024. Green Day’s fans are already loving the single and are very excited to see what else the band has in store for them.

Green Day was first formed by band members Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, who were childhood friends, as Sweet Children and was part of the underground punk scene in Northern California. In 1989, they added drummer Al Sobrante then changed their name to Green Day and had their first independent release of their EP, 1000 Hours. In the early 90’s the band decided to replace their drummer, Sobrante, with Tre Cool. During that time they also signed with a local record label, Lookout, and released their album, Kerplunk. Ever since, Green Day has been on the rise with hits like “Basket Case”, “American Idiot”, and “Wake Me Up When September Ends”. This year also marks 30 years since the release of their 1994 album, Dookie, and the band has been celebrating the occasion since August.

With the upcoming release of Saviors, Green Day has shared what the album means to them to get their fans excited. “It’s raw and emotional. Funny and disturbing. It’s a laugh at the pain, weep-in-the-happiness kind of record.” they said on their social media. Green Day will also be releasing another single, “Look Ma, No Brains!”, and have the presale for tour tickets on November 8th.
